Last Minute Trip to S/nipped with 16 More Local Cats

Well, I did it again, headed off to S/nipped, last minute, with 16 more local cats to be fixed.

Five were girls from Albany.  Eleven others came from Lebanon.

In all, 6 males and 10 females.

Purr, orange tabby tux female, from Albany, fixed yesterday, thanks to S/nipped and Poppa Inc.

Kali, an Albany female, fixed yesterday at S/nipped.  Her owners called me after calling other places.  She'd had kittens and they were giving them away in front of Walmart until the manager told them to stop it.  Then they called Safehaven, but Safehaven was full.  Then they called KATA in Sweet Home, who chastised them for giving away kittens in front of Walmart and gave them my number, to get mom cat fixed. So they called me and she's now fixed and her kittens are in my garage, heading off to Heartland today.

Momma Cat, from College Park Drive.  I found her calling free kitten ads.  They have only one kitten left, too young to be fixed and with a prolapsed rectum to boot, but she's fixed.

Maple, from College Park.  She and Lizard, from same household, I also located by calling free kitten ads.  The kittens have all been given away but one but at least both females are fixed.  However, the kittens out there unfixed will likely also reproduce and begin the cycle, the deadly game, once again.

Lizard, adult torti female from College Park drive here in Albany fixed yesterday.

Lily, Muted torti female fixed yesterday, located by calling free kitten ads on craigslist.
Mim, torbi female kitten, fixed yesterday from Lebanon.  When picking up Mimi, a woman ran over saying she had a kitten who needed fixed.
Miracle, Lebanon torti fixed yesterday.

Angelica, buff white female fixed yesterday at Snipped from Lebanon.

Precious, buff white Lebanon female fixed yesterday.

Booboo, Orange tabby on white Lebanon male fixed yesterday.

Bozo, buff orange medium hair tux male fixed yesterday.  And, with Bozo, there's something else you gotta see!

Monty, DSH org tab on white Lebanon male fixed yesterday.
Punky, DSH black tux Lebanon male fixed yesterday.
Daddy, DLH buff male fixed yesterday from Lebanon.
Daddy, due to severe mats and fleas, was given a lion cut by Tamara, no charge!
Sonny, buff DMH male fixed yesterday, from Lebanon.

Fluffy black tux Polydactyl Kitten Now Lives in Newport

This little guy, one of the first nine kittens caught at the two-legged torti colony, now is living in Newport, on Oregon's coast, with an old friend of mine, Matilda, from the Lebanon Shovel Killer Neighbor colony.  Matilda was adopted a year and a half ago by Jan on the coast and is doing just fine.  When she saw photos of the black tux boy, she and her husband could not resist.  Today they picked him up.

Six more are up in Wilsonville and I still have three, including the two youngest, merely three weeks of age.  The students found three of them, but the landlord took one.  They were screaming and likely abandoned by Stubby butt after her spay.  The older girl kitten (probably four weeks) is wilder but coming around and probably one of two kittens birthed by Captain.  The other, mostly white with some black, still eludes capture and is hanging with her mom, Captain, in the berry vines.  With the stormy rainy cold weather we are experiencing as "summer" here in Oregon, I hope the students and the landlords' kids catch her soon.

Yes, the sun is missing in Oregon.  I need to find and trap the sun, and release the sun here in Oregon.

Sun, we love you.  Come to Oregon.  It's not so bad, not really.  Ok it is bleak and dreary and depressing and where the hell are you?  You were supposed to be here weeks ago, brightening our days.  Instead, you're late and lallygagging out somewhere else, probably in a bar down in Arizona watching the fires you are fanning.  You've turned dark, Sun, when here in Oregon, when you come, because you visit so rarely, like we're old and boring, we throw parties and dust off the decades old sunscreen.  It's so rarely needed one tube here lasts a lifetime.

More and More Kittens....

I need to sleep 24 hours.  I hope to do that soon.  I took six of the Two Legged Torti colony kittens to a Wilsonville rescue today.  While up there, the students called.  They'd found three more.  I told them I would pick them up when I got back, which I did.  They're tiny, maybe three weeks, the youngest yet.  Stubby Butt's I bet.  She was lactating.  So was Captain.  I suggested we look for Captain's kittens.

Sure enough, we spotted two more in the blackberries.  One ran inside the landlord's shed/garage through a small hole big enough only for a rat, mouse or tiny kitten.  It took quite a lot to move everything to get to where the kitten might be, but we spotted her, using my headlamp light and telescoping auto mirror, always with me in my car.  But the kitten is large mouse size and can scramble and there was so much stuff piled around, we could not scramble quickly enough.  But finally the student caught the little frightened starving girl.

We set a trap inside the hole that kitten used inside the shed/garage, which made me nervous since I don't know when that shed is unlocked to check that trap or if they even will.  Makes me real real nervous.

Then the landlords daughter said they wanted a kitten.  I questioned her, defensive of these little buggers, because the one they wanted was only three weeks old.  Then she said they were giving it to a 15 year old relative and the daughter said "It will be spayed tomorrow."  "Yeah, right," I said, "spay a 3 week old kitten."

She was fucking with me, being sarcastic.  I don't even know what the fate of that poor little kitten is going to be.

So five more were found, one is uncaught and three more are here.  I actually have four here, because the folks who adopted Matilda from me almost two years ago, are adopting the little fuzzy black tux polydactyl boy kitten tomorrow.

I am concerned for the safety of the fifth kitten, but there is nothing I can do.  The male student is gung ho about getting this done. The girl student, his girlfriend, looked tired and fed up with it tonight.  You can imagine how I feel.  If I had lived nearby there would never be kittens all over in the brush, being born like that and most of those other cats would never have been born either.  That's the difference between me and almost everybody else in Linn County.  Linn County is damn lucky I live here, even though I hope my residence here soon ends, because I can't really keep up this pace.  It is killing me, physically, emotionally and financially.  But I can't just not help the vast numbers of unfixed cats here, while I live here, so the only way out is to get out.  Leave!    That's all I can figure out.

I tried to guilt trip a donation out of the landlord, through his teen daughter, listing the costs involved fixing all those cats wandering his property, to Poppa Inc. and to me, for gas and bait, but my appeal fell on ears that didn't care.   They've been wandering the property unfixed for a few years, issue unaddressed.

Three week old gray and white female kitten.

Blue male kitten.

Brown tabby tux female kitten, six weeks old or so.
So Heartland said they'd take the three, when they have room, and in the meantime supply me with food for them.  I took them up on it.  I hate doing adoptions and I don't want to do them.  I don't trust people.  You don't after all I've seen.  So I'm no good at adoptions.  I know that about myself, so off they'll go, when Heartland can take them.  They'll be fixed first there, and so many rescues hand them out, sell them, without fixing them, just like the people on craigslist and breeders.  Same thing.

UPDATE:  Speaking of adoptions, a friend who fosters in the Portland area had an adult cat returned.  The old woman said the cat was lonely and had not bonded with her dog, as she thought the cat would.  So another acquaintance of hers wanted two females.   She took the returned cat plus another foster to him, explaining how they should be underwhelmed in a small room for a couple of weeks.  Instead, he put them in an upstairs bedroom and expected that two cats, new to the home, scared, hiding under a bed, would somehow travel downstairs to locate one obscure litter box.  They didn't, of course, as common sense would dictate, as anyone with any fricking brains would figure out, so he wanted her to come get them, for peeing under his bed.  Fricking idiot.  Nobody has patience anymore.  Nobody listens anymore.  Nobody gives a shit anymore.   This man gets the idiot adopter of the week award!

More Photos of Cats Fixed Thursday

Some of the rest of the cats fixed Thursday, including a male and female from Lebanon, and three Albany females.  I've now returned all the cats except two of the females from the down town Albany colony.  One kitten has a home, found by the students, and the other seven will travel to a Portland area rescue likely tomorrow.  All nine of the Albany down town colony were females.  Three were pregnant, four were lactating.  Only nine kittens were found but they are all out of there now, at least.
Angel, Flame Point Siamese female, fixed at Snipped Thursday.

Ozzie, Lebanon orange tux male, fixed at Snipped last Thursday.

Callie, an Albany female, fixed at Snipped Thursday.  She had kittens.  Two are still with Callie's owner.  Hope to get them fixed, too.

Suzy Q, adult calico, abandoned on College Park Drive in Albany, now fed as stray, which is sad.  Snipped determined she is already fixed.

Photos of the cats fixed yesterday

Screech was fixed yesterday at Heartland, along with Albany calico Bailey, a Philomath female and a stray male from Peoria road.  I did not get photos of the latter three cats.

Romeo, from the down town colony, tame and turned out to be an already fixed female.  I think I know her.

Wobbles, the long hair torti with only two legs,  one in front and one in back, on opposite sides.  She was spayed yesterday.  These leg amputations are very old and probably the result of being hit by a car.
Minor Mom, DLH Black female from down town colony, fixed yesterday, mom of some of the kittens.

Schnazzy, pregnant female from down town colony, spayed yesterday.

Stubby Butt, DLH gray tux female with bitten or cut off tail, from down town Albany colony, fixed yesterday. She's lactating.

Stubby Butt's bitten or broken, cut off tail stub.  This probably happened from being hit by a car, sleeping inside a car engine and fan cut it off, or a dog bit it off.
Button, female from the Albany down town colony fixed yesterday.

Captain, lactating female fixed yesterday from downtown colony.

Diamond, pregnant female from down town colony fixed yesterday.

Major Mom, long hair calico, mother of some of the kittens, from the down town colony, fixed yesterday.

The students found a home for one of the 8 kittens, then the other seven are getting taken in by a Portland area rescue, which is a relief.  Feel happy about that.  I mowed a friends' fields today, already exhausted, because in exchange, he's going to fix my clanking shrieking brakes and that really needs doing.  So it was a good exchange and I like riding the bouncy tractor and getting grass and seed and dirt blown up into my face under the hot sun.  I really do like that.  Took me seven hours, but soon, my brakes won't be clanking when I touch them.  Was worth it.  Is an easy job, driving a tractor pulling a mower through grass so tall in some places I could not see, buried, tractor and all, swallowed alive in fields.  I love that.

I talked to the students tonight and they suggested I bring the cats back tomorrow, since I am so tired.  It made me feel happy for them to seem to care about my state of exhaustion. It was nice.  I will take them back tomorrow and take them the calico girl kitten, for their friends.  They're with their moms in the garage right now.  All is well with them.
