Quiet Week

Smudge, the kitten, is pretty much ready to go to a home, if I can find someone who wants her.  She'll be shy at first with a new person but not for long.  I want to find someone that has for sure another young cat already, since she really loves other cats.  I have been letting her out of the bathroom during the day, but my cats can be not so nice to a kitten.  They're old farty cats mostly.

After I returned the cats on my birthday I really intended to go out to eat or something like that.   Got sleepy though, fell asleep on the couch watching something, moved my sleepiness to my bed and was asleep before I should have been asleep.  And that was that.

Oh well.

I have a few more appointments this month for spay neuter.  Then in May and April, only ten per month and I'll take the summer off again.   Kitten season.   People wanting me to take their kittens.   I can't handle kitten season anymore, especially with few appointments out there.   Besides, we get so little time with the sun here, I try to do something when we finally get some warm weather.

I hope we do get warm weather, not a rainy summer.   I also hope we don't have a wildfire smoke filled summer.

We had yet another pineapple express event this last week, with pouring rains that drenched and flooded some areas.  Now its supposed to not rain for a few days, maybe starting Saturday.

It's been difficult to find wet cat food around here lately.   Walmart shelves are almost always empty of wet cat food now and what they do have is terribly expensive.   Gas prices have shot up too and now the electric company made the news that they will apply for a 12.2% increase for 2023 in rates.   I'm not sure how one is supposed to survive all these increases, on a fixed income.

It will be a challenge.

Nothing like what people face in much of the world.  So...no real complaints here.

I remember your brave announcement last year when you said you were taking the summer off, but it didn't quite work out like that. Wishing you some blue skies and warm sunshine.

    1. That's so funny Andrew. I always think I'm going to take the summer off, intend to, rarely really do. Best intentions.....

  2. Here's hoping for some relief from a lot of things, sooner rather than later. In the meantime, a little sunshine is always welcome.

    1. And oh, boy, would I take Smudge if we lived closer. She would love Polly and Terra, and vice versa, I'm sure.

    2. Oh man, Darla, I wish you could take her. So far, no takers.

  4. The joys of living in these times. Sigh. Sad to think of kitten season. You'd think people would spay and neuter if they didn't want kittens, but alas, I know many do not.
