Someone began commenting on photos on my nonprofit facebook page, of cats I took to the FCCO two weeks ago, that two of them might be his. One cat he commented on was a black teen of all things, and there four to six of them in the colony, all wild born there.
Of course they're not his. They all went right back home. But he kept on, wanting me to call him. I finally realized who he is and my brain went numb and I wanted to punch something. He's the guy who left two cats in the park last summer. Two unfixed boys.
He's the guy whose black cat ended up horribly injured, starved and dehydrated and near death, so bad that after the camp host found him and I picked him, and took him to the ER vet, the vet, after his exam and bloodwork, said he was sorry he was too far gone. He was such a sweet boy, it tore me up.
So what, he's finally feeling remorse over leaving them up there like that? The camp host gave him my number when the cats were on the lam up there and the ridiculousness he spouted over the phone. Like they were from a wild heritage in Alaska and wanted to wild again so they'd be fine if he left them and they'd hunt for food and be fine or someone would feed them. I had hung up then furious, because their group had then gotten a kitten from another camper and who knows the fate that kitten suffered.
I don't like memories like that stirred up.
Now I get another call from somewhere else in Waterloo and they've found an injured male they don't know, said he's got hole injuries on one hip, like he got pellet shot but that he's eating and drinking. Oh boy, I think, is that the other poor boy this guy left behind there at the park, to suffer until death?
Some people just need to be in jail for a long long time so they can't do any more damage.
Neglect is just prolonging injuring an animal. It especially applies to animals who have never had to hunt in their life for food.
ReplyDeleteNo kidding Andrew. The guy was trying to justify his actions.
DeleteSome people are just crazy. I'm sorry you have to deal with them, not to mention the animals they hurt.
ReplyDeleteThat's true.
DeleteSo sad. I'd want to punch something too.
ReplyDeleteNormal response. Thanks.
DeleteI am so sorry that scumbag has your phone number. ~hugs~ It's time like this I really hope hell exists in the afterlife.
ReplyDeleteHe's blocked now.
DeleteWhatever is done to the least of these should be done to the abuser.
ReplyDeleteWell, at least the tabby found injured near the park is already fixed and elderly so its not the other cat from this guy who dumped the pair.
DeleteThat's the worst. And I bet he still had no idea. It's too bad you can't publicly shame him somewhere. Not that it would shut him up, I daresay.
ReplyDeleteNobody cares, is the thing, and I really never want to think about him again.
