I got sick Thursday night, rather suddenly.
It was horrible. I felt like I had glass all through my stomach and intestines. I lost any strength I had and slept for over 36 hours, struggling to stay warm and taking Aleve for all the pain I was in. The pain by Friday night was in seemingly every muscle too, even in my hair where it fastened to my scalp.
I could do nothing Friday but sleep. Or lay in bed moaning. I slept from early Thursday night, after it hit, all night, and all day Friday. I was up very briefly and then back in bed and slept til 7:30 this morning. Can you believe that? I was so weak during that time, and I felt like I'd been squished by a big truck.
I could not for the life of me figure out what I'd caught but the sudden onset and fast remission (today I'm ok) usually means food poisoning. I had wondered about the Frappe I got at McDonalds Thursday late afternoon. I wondered when I got it, since I got it at the drive through and there were no other cars behind me, but it took ten minutes for them to produce it. My suspicious nature kicked in, and I thought I shouldn't drink it, that maybe it had been doctored. But I drank it anyhow, and within two hours I was sicker than a dog.
I can't say it was that for sure.
This morning finally I could stay awake and my stomach seemed better. I didn't eat anything but one dry piece of toast this morning. Later I was able to mow the lawn, which surprised me, since its hot and I'd been so weak when ill.
Seems like all is well now, but yesterday, oh my, I wondered what in the world and thought maybe I wouldn't make it.
I guess all is well that ends well.
I am very, very glad that you are feeling better. And of course you mowed the lawn the first time you could stand. You are a glutton for punishment.
ReplyDeleteI live in fear of one particular judgemental neighbor.
DeleteThat sounds horrible. Did you have a fever? I'm glad that you have rebounded well. You have pointed out an important lesson for all of us--trust your instincts.
ReplyDeleteYes I had a fever, couldn't stay warm, had the chills. I believe now, after reading online, I had a stomach virus of some kind, the one the lady had who got it where she worked, at the nursing home. Hers lasted only a day too. Many residents got it and other workers. It went around Sweet Home. However, that said, I do think I got it from that restaurant drink. I think someone there had it, with symptoms or not. I read you can pass it on for several days after symptoms pass.
DeleteI’m so sorry!! Why don’t you go to the ER?
ReplyDeleteI nearly did, but its so uncomfortable and horrid. The last time I went there for my back, they didn't do an exam even, and the doctor was so tentative and in the background for the brief time in the room, maybe two minutes, I thought him in way over his head, to be an ER doctor. So I figured Monday, to Urgent Care, not as horrid a place. But am better now. It's very tough to go to ER when extremely ill and have to drive yourself or even think about that.
DeleteI'm so sorry for this. I would suggest that you call the local health department because they need to check out McDonalds to see what might have happened.
ReplyDeleteI'd actually have had to have a definitive diagnosis, then the product i consumed tested, I believe.
DeleteWow, that sound horrible. I can't recall the last time I was sick in bed.
ReplyDeleteCoffee is on and stay safe
I believe I may have had a milder version of the same 'bug' earlier in the week. Not a fun time.
ReplyDeleteI don't think its food poisoning anymore. Several other people have contacted me and said they're ill with same thing.
DeleteYikes! That sounds horrible. Even worse is that dreadful neighbor. ~hugs~ That reminds me of a horrific true crime television series called "Fear They Neighbor". ~shudders~ I'll have to read your newer post next but glad you're getting better.
ReplyDeleteWell some neighbors its best to stay clear of, way clear. I learned it the hard way. Some seem obsessed with unhappiness.
