We're having one more day of rain, then the weather improves. By Monday, we could see temperatures near 90 degrees.
I didn't know this was coming until I finally checked the weather report last night.
I went to the park yesterday, to feed the boys, and see if I could spot Klaus, who was neutered last Friday and is fed in the residential area right behind the park. He and many residential cats use the park as a playground. I saw him on Monday there.
Yesterday, the park had very few people in it, compared to how it will be like probably starting today or tomorrow. There's a campground inside the park, two sections to it. One section, you just wouldn't camp there if you want any privacy because its basically a field. The second section has a few more private places. Not many though. Campgrounds have evolved into this sort of thing because most people don't camp anymore. They're in huge trailers and RV's. Great Whites I call them. People are just getting away from home now, but bring easy living with them. Who can blame them? Why rough it if you don't have to when you work hard all week. The Great Whites include their own privacy. Campgrounds just provide the field they park in, plus electric and water to hook into.
Today its still raining up a storm, gray and ugly, but that is all supposed to change by tomorrow.
I like to just sit by the river in the park. I watch the activity of the birds and peer into the water to see the smaller life go on. By this weekend, private time by the quiet river will likely not be available. The ducks and geese were out but way down closer to the waterfall.
Right by the boat ramp, in the water, I saw a lot of crawdad moult shells. They moult like crabs. I don't know why so many were right in that spot.
The wild roses are blooming everywere this year. Along with Poppies. I love to see poppies growing along the road or anywhere. This year, they seem to be everywhere.
The Daisies are also very very beautiful and carpet areas of the park.
The cats lately are very lazy and a bit irritable. Muffy is one of those self contained cats who can take you or leave you. She likes to be petted but doesn't need to be petted, to be happy. If another cat gives her flack she gives the other cat flack right back, but she doesn't seek out or make trouble. She learned this give and take being born to a large colony. She's amiable to me at least because she was starved constantly in that colony and is grateful and smart enough to know I saved her. It's not a needy or conniving gratefulness, just a matter of fact one.
Muffy is a real lady cat. :) And those pictures are lovely. I hope you stay cool and comfy, my dear.
ReplyDeleteWhat a restorative and lovely place. Heart balm for the eyes and the soul.
