I rounded up and took 76 cats in to be fixed during the month of June, 2008. Of these, 42 were females and 34 were males. 52 of the cats come from within the city limits of Albany. 17 more were from Linn County but outside the city limits of Albany. 7 came from Benton County and I am not distinguishing cats from within city limits of Corvallis. I don't get over to Benton County much anymore.
Later on, I will do the stats for last month as to how many ferals versus tame cats went in.
The cost for fixing the 52 Albany cats will be picked up by the City of Albany cat grant. The funds left in the grant are getting low. The cost for these 52 fixes this month: $2130.
24 cats were subsidized by funds from Poppa Inc. (www.poppainc.org) to the tune of $746. This money is made by volunteers.
Want to contribute? Go to the sidebar on the left of my blog and click on the Poppa Inc. cat donation icon, which will take you to Poppa's paypal page. Indicate you would like the donation to go towards fixing cats in the mid valley, through Jody.
In the months of April, May and June, since Poppa got the Albany grant, I have taken in 117 Albany cats who were fixed at a cost of: $4647. This makes the average cost per cat just at $39. That is not bad, considering many have been pregnant or in heat, which ups the cost to fix the cat.
Paperwork is a killer. It's taken me several hours to compile all the totals and stats. I do addition, subtraction, the old fashioned way, by hand, even in my head often, but I always check my "in head" work by hand. I think it helps keep my aging brain sharper, not owning a calculator. I practise adding and subtracting in my head often, for fun, sport even.
Every day I take cats to be fixed also requires paperwork and records. But, these things must be done!
I am a Cat Woman. My self-appointed mission in life is to save the feline world! To accomplish this mission, I get cats fixed. Perhaps my mission might be slightly delusional. This blog is a mishmash of wishful thinking, rants, experiences as I remember them and of course, cat stories and cat photos. I have a nonprofit now, to help keep the cats here cared for and to fix community cats. Happy Cat Club formed in 2015. Currently, we are on a mission to fix 10,000 cats.
