The cats in my garage last night, from Corvallis, pretty much screamed half the night in the garage. I could hear them clear in my bedroom. There are these types of cats, the screamers I call them, that react to being confined to a carrier, with extremely loud mournful screams. I had the grand luck of having two such cats in my garage last night, both tame, from Corvallis, from two different situations. Screamers. I got almost no sleep.
Morning comes, and I get up early to go get a second male from Corvallis and to pick up that feral male kitten. The contractor man arrived, unexpectedly. I asked him to also replace the outlet in the bathroom. It has quit working. I bought another one. He installed it. It doesn't work either, so the wiring is haywire and that's the only outlet in the bathroom. I don't know how long it hasn't been working.
So that played on my mind. I was supposed to be in Eugene with Purrly by noon, for some adoptors. They are low income, but seem like they take really good care of the one cat they have and the rescued dog. I have very little choice anymore. I do my best to find good homes for these kittens.
I was late getting down there due to the contractor man being in my bathroom and in the end, that didn't work out anyhow. he's gone for good now, having finished the fence and gate. But the cat yard is far from done. The fence bottom has gaps of six inches in spots and my brother doesn't want me to line it in cinder blocks, like I did at the old place. It is not contained on the top either and there is still no way for the cats to get to the cat yard from the house. So, it's a nonfunctional cat yard still. But the contractor man isn't going to do anymore. I have to wait on my brother. I don't know when he'll come up. When he does come, he's usually way too tired to do anything, which I can understand.
And when I finally got to Eugene, I found out the man living behind them has an unfixed female whose last litter has gone feral and are four months old. And a stray male coming through. So I e-mailed the Eugene people, since they have so many programs going down there, including Greenhill fixing 20 or so community cats per week for a nonprofit, and a No Kill Group, asking if they'll step in and solve this Eugene issue. The owner of the unfixed female is living in a small camp trailer and exists on a small veterans pension. He's really poor, in other words, and cannot even afford LCARA's rates.
I came home and wanted to sleep, but can't because I'm again constipated, and Hopi won't get off me and she has diarrhea on her butt. I gave her a bunch of catlax, maybe too much, because she's been trying to cough up hairballs. I have to go get the cats from Countryside and I am so worn out. I have to return two to Corvallis.
I am a Cat Woman. My self-appointed mission in life is to save the feline world! To accomplish this mission, I get cats fixed. Perhaps my mission might be slightly delusional. This blog is a mishmash of wishful thinking, rants, experiences as I remember them and of course, cat stories and cat photos. I have a nonprofit now, to help keep the cats here cared for and to fix community cats. Happy Cat Club formed in 2015. Currently, we are on a mission to fix 10,000 cats.
