Ha! I thought that S. Lebanon colony would be a quick fix. I was told originally it was just four cats. I'm up to 11 caught now, with the four I caught this morning there. One of the four, maybe two of them---unknowns.
Plus I saw another one I didn't know. It jumped up on the old car in the garage when I went in there to set up the drop trap.
But we're getting there at least. I did catch last known pregnant female in the colony. Five of the six females caught so far have been pregnant.
I have five more spots tomorrow at the Salem clinic. I had two spots Monday.
I was going to use the two spots yesterday for cats from the S. Lebanon colony, but the colony caretaker's nephew came down to mow and was mowing til late. So I took two from Waterloo Park instead. They were dumped there as kittens last fall. I was asked to catch them and to my surprise they came running out of the brush to my car. I can't recall the date last fall I caught them. The lady who cared for them and asked for help catching them, took them in but they were not fixed yet and badly needed to be. So I took up Zig and Zag Monday.

This is a video taken last fall of the boys when they came running out of the brush to my car.
They were originally scheduled for fixing tomorrrow. So I had four spots open for the S. Lebanon colony instead of two tomorrow. Good!
I set up the drop trap there at the Langham S. Lebanon colony this morning about 8:00 and happily, the pregnant female, CurlyQ, so called for her short crooked tail, went right under it to eat along with another long hair, who is not fixed either. I named the long hair Flurry. I caught both cats and got them transferred into live traps and into my car. In the meantime, I set a trap out behind my car and quickly caught a big tabby tux tom. I thought he is the one I call Tommy Twin, who is the brother of another unfixed boy Long Socks. But its not Tommy Twin. I'm going to call him Monty. Why? I have no idea.
I then caught a long hair tux who may or may not be Mama's Boy, who is fed at the other ladies house across the street.
Anyhow, I had four by then, to fill the spots I had for this colony, and went inside and she gave me a cup of coffee. It was not even 10 a.m. I still had to go pick up the tame stray who showed up at an already fixed Waterloo colony. But that would be easy. While drinking coffee, I saw Brighty, the boy fixed last Friday, jump into the back of my car. A wild turkey hen then strutted up and tried to run Brighty away from my car, so she could peck at fallen cat food bits. Never a dull moment.
I drove up to Waterloo and picked up Hulk and came home. I'm home for the rest of the day and happy about that.

And that was my morning. Now I don't have to do another darn thing til I take the five up to the clinic in the morning.
Another busy morning for Strayer!
ReplyDeleteYes it was a busy morning followed by a very lazy afternoon, lol.
DeleteWell done - enjoy the rest of your day.
ReplyDeleteHave been!!
DeleteCongratulations on some easy traps.
ReplyDeleteYou got the hard stuff done early so you could enjoy the rest of the day. So much for being done someplace.
ReplyDeleteAt least I got that one 15 cat colony done completely. This latest one, who knows how many cats there. The two feeders do not know the cats they feed, which makes it harder, but I've tasked them with taking photos, but I have a photographic memory of cat face detail, if I see a cat just once, so I am on it. This next one, that i began tonight, is even harder. I wasn't informed the lady's brother, next door, feeds the cats too, but isn't not feeding. I couldn't understand at first why they were not running into the traps, having not been fed much this morning and nothing tonight. Well, when cats are being fed NEXT DOOR anyway, why would they go in to a trap. I caught 4, fortunately all girls, but there are five others needing caught I'm told. I only saw three of the alleged five. They can't describe the other two.
DeleteTo catch four, it wasn't enough to bait the traps. I had to get them super high on catnip first.
