I'm tired. And it's morning.
I slept 7 hours. The exhaustion is really from looking at the morning work ahead.
I'd rather just not.
I need to return five of the six cats fixed yesterday. Yes six, not five.
That's because the lady who had trapped the male late last Friday night, then taken him back home, due to the size of the trap he was in and my inability to deal with it, trapped another cat, this time the female, Tuesday night.
I had told her to tie open her smaller trap and feed in it, because I have two appointments open Monday. But she set the trap and went off to find something to fasten it open with and the female got in it.
I met her in Lebanon to pick her up Tuesday evening. Then cat juggled since I had only five spots in Salem. I switched the tame Waterloo boy Hulk to getting fixed at the private clinic and took the five wilder ones, four from S. Lebanon plus the Sweet Home girl, to Salem.
I found someone to deliver the boy to the Corvallis clinic, since I could not be in two places at once.
After all six were at the two clinics, I started to weed eat my lawn. Inside the cat yard. It is badly overgrown. I didn't have a lot of time, but managed to get a third of it cut down. I then used my last few dollars on the Panera gift card to order a sandwich, to pick up on my way to go get Hulk in Corvallis. Unfortunately, the asiago bagel stack sandwiches are now gone from their menu. So I ordered some other limited time sandwich. I did rapid pickup, which means grabbing a bag off their rapid pickup shelf. On the way to the clinic I reached in and pulled it out and was shocked at how burned it was on the outside. I tried it anyway and it was not edible. Edges charred and dry, inside soggy. Yuck.
I was mad. I had not eaten all day and someone actually burned that and decided to wrap it up and put it in a bag anyhow. $10 from a gift card for this? WTF.
I called when I got home and got a refund.
So much of what they sell is just overpriced hyped up crap.
I finally got the other five cats picked up too, and the Sweet Home lady came and got her girl about the time I got home.
Then it was off to trap in Brownsville. However I noticed immediately the cats did not seem very hungry. I caught 4 before coming on home. Allegedly there are five more that need caught plus two others now with young kittens who can't go to be fixed tomorrow. I saw three of the five who need caught but they could not describe the other two.
And, I discovered, her neighbor, who is a relative, a few dozen feet from her place, also feeds them. Ah ha. No wonder they did not seem very hungry.
Here's a photo of Cinnamon, the Sweet Home girl also fixed yesterday--the sixth cat.

I'm glad you got a refund. I don't know, but some people like their things charred. I call it burned and don't like it.
ReplyDeleteBurned bread though....edges were so burned and dried out from being burned, like eating charcoal. But the inside of the bread was soggy from sauce on it maybe. It was disgusting. So sad those asiago bagel stack sandwiches were discontinued. Loved those. Had just enough left on gift card to get one more of them, then saw they'd been discontinued. Sad face.
DeleteI am not suprised you are exhausting. You have taken on a never ending, complicated task - which you do well.
ReplyDeleteCinnamon reminds me of our Odie. Pretty little cats both of them.
I feel so much better right now after sleeping a couple hours.
DeleteHubby pays the monthly fee for unlimited Panera coffee, but I can't remember the last time I had food there.
ReplyDeleteTheir salads and breads are delicious. Bird lady and I used to get their chocolate croissants. Hope he uses that unlimited a lot. I saw that on their website.
DeleteThat's pretty awful about the sandwich. But why? Was the person who burnt it too afraid to be seen wasting food, instead hoping someone wouldn't say anything?
ReplyDeleteI wondered on the why someone would just send it off to a customer rather than redo it properly. Lazy? Afraid of their manager or getting fired? I asked the store why. The guy said because its a new item and they don't know how to make it yet. That seemed like a great deal of bs to me.
DeleteSuch a disappointment about the sandwich. Glad you got a refund. Sometimes they can make things right, but when you're hungry it's not great.
ReplyDeleteIt made me mad. The fact someone burned it and sent it off anyway to a customer is really a fuck you to the customer. He or she was probably hoping since it was a pickup order maybe it wouldn't come back on them.
