Even More

 I am tired today.

Yesterday was long.   I ended up at the rest area, napping in the back of my car.  I'd not taken a blanket, so I wadded up my raincoat for a pillow and slept on the bare board in the back  after dropping off the 14 cats.

I got home about 6:30 and gave the 14 freshly fixed cats food and water.   I watched Survivor and Amazing Race.   I sort of like both shows, but not too much.  Seems like a-holes always win both shows.

Things are dicey around these parts.  Food bank grants from the feds have been cut.   Grants to libraries in our area and museums, also cut.   Who knows what else.   Americans first?  No.  Billionaires first.

Its way more important to give tax cuts to rich people than to feed poor people.  Fuck them all.  I can live on potatoes if I have to.

I returned the 14 cats this morning.  A few minutes before I arrived they caught that last little flame point teen.  So he came home with me.  I unloaded all those dirty traps and cage covers quickly and set up Little Flame in the garage.  Then I loaded two clean traps up and headed out to the other Lebanon colony.  They had two more pregnant cats and I've been trying to beat the kitten bloom there at least.

I set up a trap using a bottle to prop it open.  I tied a string around the bottle neck and baited the trap.  There are several other unfixed cats there, but for now I was after the two preggies.   I only caught one of them.  The other was nowhere to be seen.  So I caught another cat.  His or her sex is unknown to the caretaker.

I named them Mimi and Brighty. All three will be fixed tomorrow in Corvallis.

They're set up for the day, too.   So I can now kick back, do loads of icky smelly cage covers and eventually clean those 15 traps outside the garage.  Rain is coming this afternoon and tomorrow, so that will do some of the work for me.

It was a good few days for local cats, that's for sure.

Now I can go nap.

Brighty

Mimi

Little Flame--last unfixed cat at the one colony.   Pretty happy to get them all.

  1. Brighty is a good name for that bright-eyed cat! Really sad to hear about all the funding cuts. This is a dark time in American history.

    1. Thanks! I think the name fits. A lot of good people are getting hurt by the whims and play time of billionaires and millionaires.

  3. I am not surprised you are tired. I would be exhausted. Well done as always.
And sadly you are right about Billionaires first. Hiss and spit.

  4. Cutting food bank grants is disgusting.
Time for a rest for you.

    1. It is, Andrew, not nice at all. So many cuts everywhere. DOJ (Department of Justice) is now wanting to withhold all federal funds from Maine, over their insistence on allowing transgenders to compete in women's sports. I see the point of not allowing it, as those kids are biological males, with male musculature and build, giving them an unfair advantage over female athletes. I don't get so much the worry over restroom use, that biological males could use women's restrooms. Most public restrooms are for men or women. All vault toilets in campgrounds and parks are, at least. So I don't get the big fear that a bio male will use a restroom also used by women. That's happened for a very very long time.

    2. Anyhow, Oregon is now under investigation for same thing. If all federal funds are withheld from Oregon, we will be in a world of hurt. States are supposed to have their own say in what they do, in the US, but now we have Trump imposing something else. He gets away with anything he wants. He told followers on social media post the night before he was going to reduce tariffs to all but China, which is in essence insider trading. But he can break any law he so desires apparently.

    1. It really does. Its fairly rare. The good part is they got FCCO appointments promptly when they found out about the FCCO clinic. Then I loaned them traps to feed in, with them rigged not to spring, so by the time I went to trap, they were used to going in and out of them. I only set two at a time, and then when I got caught one in a trap, immediately set another trap exactly where that one had been. It all worked well, until the downpour happened, on Tuesday. But in the end, we did catch Little Flame, under a car with high clearance. No rain could get to the trap there.

  7. "Fuck them all."

This wartime law he's using to deport non-citizens can also be used to deport you and me. Just knowing this makes criticizing Trump, Musk, Johnson, etc. feel different than the times I criticized politicians in the past. Clearly, Trump's only limit lies in that which the masses of Americans won't allow him to do, and so far, they will allow him to do almost anything. I really have no idea if we're going to make it.

    1. I've thought about that Snow and you are right. A friend told me she didn't know if we'd make it through this and I thought a lot of people are thinking that.

Where's the End?

Ha!  I thought that S. Lebanon colony would be a quick fix.  I was told originally it was just four cats.  I'm up to 11 caught now, wit...
