I spent the day yesterday fixing and cleaning. The car stereo was on the fritz. Only one rear speaker was working. I figured it was the adjustment knob again. The knob not only adjusts volume. I push it to get other adjustment options, like BAL (Balance, which adjusts left and right sound) and one I didn't know--FAD.
I looked it up online. Sure enough the FAD adjustment affects whether you hear more from the rear or front speakers. Problem was, my knob once again wasn't working, so I couldn't adjust it.
I did the same thing I did a year ago, when the volume control would not adjust. It would go down when I turned it to go up. I popped off the knob and sprayed cleaner down into the works. Afterwards, I adjusted the FAD so now I hear the front speakers primarily. When carrying cats in the back, I can adjust it so no noise comes out of the rear speakers.
The ESL or ESR, I forget which it is now, lets the radio/CD player adjust the volume as road noise increases. That's pretty nifty.
The back hatch lever was also loose on one side. To access it, I pried out the plastic clips that hold the felt board on the inside of the back hatch. The felt board covers the workings of the back. Then just tightened that one nut/bolt.
I also velcroed on the shock absorber covers in the back. Theere is one to each side. Both covers have clips to hold them in place, but they were broken on both from getting knocked off repeatedly. Cleaned the headlights again with PlastX, that's supposed to slightly dissolve and diminish scratches in plastic headlight coverings.
I cleaned all my traps too. I loaded up 12 more in the car. There were already two traps at the colony I was to trap last night. I couldn't go over til after 7:00, when the chickens go to roost. Otherwise I'm just catching chickens. Free roamer chickens create havoc when trapping.
I caught old Gracie. She was not my highest priority cat that needed mats clipped. Not until I saw she had poop caught in the hair around her butt and it was bothering her. I had to net her, put a towel over her in the net and carry her into the bathroom. It was a long job, trying to get mats off and the poop. She has such fine hair the undercoat mats against her skin. She wasn't a happy cat. Until, that is, she realized I'd gotten that stuck poop out of her hair.
I also updated her on flea treatment, trimmed her nails, what she'd let me that is, gave her a three way vaccine update, let her take off then, and she did, with one look back glare that melted me. This was all done while trying to control her in a net. Ha!

Not the best photo. I see I still need to trim better under her chin and down her front. Do so at own risk! |
I have four to go, with shaving. But getting one done really made me celebrate!
Here are six of the twelve cats I caught last night.

This one is a Blue point Siamese mix female, I was told |

There are up to three left in this litter needing caught--a dsh flamepoint, a dlh flamepoint and a dsh chocolate point. They are about four months old. |
I haven't taken photos of the other six yet. Three of them are HUGE boys. The other three are more gray tabbies.

Gracie again. She loves the shelf along the front window mornings, to get any morning sun she can. None today sweetie, another rain day here. |

Terrible photo. It's a black adult male. But he started rolling in the trap as I tried to get a photo. Yeah maybe I'll get another tomorrow and maybe I won't. |

This little guy is darn cute and likely brother to little flamepoint not yet caught. |
You know, you are so good with cats, that you could earn a little extra money by trimming claws for people. I know several people who would be happy to use a service like that.
ReplyDeleteI'm actually not good at it L & L. Problem being I have arthritis in my hands, and some fingers lock up at times, making it hard to grip, or rather, hard to let up grip when a finger locks down.
DeleteI'm sorry about your oft debilitating arthritis. ~hugs~ Thank you for powering through your difficulties. I need to use the awesome pet clippers you recommended on two fluffy kitties here. lol Take care, my dear.
DeleteGracie needed the trim even if she didn't like the trimming. I'm sure she's happier now.
ReplyDeleteShe is happier now!
DeleteAnother VERY successful day and night. Colour me super impressed. Again.
ReplyDeleteThanks EC.
DeleteMy goodness, you have a lot of cats at the moment.
ReplyDeleteSure is a lot. Fortunatley they get fixed tomorrow then go back to their people.
DeleteLots of work, Andrew, even for a couple of nights, to care for 12 more. Takes me a few days to recuperate after they go back to their home.
DeleteYou write, "Not the best photo..." Au contraire! The first picture (and the one below) is fabulous! Truly, an artistic success! Not only should it be printed and framed, but it should be given a place of honor as a picture that absolutely sums up the work you do! Seriously!
ReplyDeleteBill, you are sweet!!! Thank you!
DeleteSound like your quite handy.
