No Gleaners

I wanted badly to go to Gleaners yesterday.   I couldn't go however.

They have strict rules about arriving sick.   I'd hoped the misery I'd experienced the night before was caused by allergies from cleaning.

But I knew better.  Allergies don't make me so cold I have to wear a coat to bed.

I self tested for Covid yesterday, after the hard night, with the upsetting news over the shut down of federal finances overshadowing my thoughts yesterday.  Negative on Covid.

I've put off and put off getting another covid vaccine and the flu vaccine.  That's because my doctor told me, when I had my yearly visit in September, it was a pharmacy benefit and I couldn't get the vaccines there at the doctor's office.

The pharmacy wait just for a refill of a prescription can be an hour in line or more.   For a vaccine, they want you to have an appointment.  But they told me not to call for one, to make it online.  That didn't work.  I tried and gave up twice. Kept telling me I hadn't filled in the right information, to go back.   They want all the insurance information over again, when they have it on their computers right there at the pharmacy.

So I've put it off now for months.  the difficulty involved in getting a vaccine doesn't stop the pharmacy texts about all kinds of vaccines I should get.

Anyhow, so I couldn't go to Gleaners.  I can't expose other people.  Most of the people at Gleaners are elderly like me.

But I have been utilizing the stock of soup I have from Gleaners while sick.

It's good, for canned soup.  I'm not a fan of canned soup usually.  Too salty and tasteless.

The rain is supposed to start up tomorrow night, with a chance of snow mixed in by Sunday and Monday.  Forecasts change so fast, however.

I have no outside cat duties until Friday, when I pick up five cats held in Lebanon, from feral colonies, that will go to Silverton Cat Rescue barn homes Saturday.     The lady holding them is off with her husband working elsewhere, so I hope it goes smoothly to get them at her place on Friday.  A relative is supposed to be there to contain them.  I've got to give each a vaccination, flea treatment and worming before they head off to optimize their success chances.

  1. I am sorry that you couldn't go to Gleaners yesterday, but understand. Get better. I hope that Friday's duties go really, really well. At least the cats get their vaccines easily.

  3. Perhaps you should just show up to the pharmacy anyway and see if they'll take you. If the appointment portal is so broken...

At least they've rescinded that awful order. For now. They just don't think. And they don't care who they hurt.
