I was contacted last Friday by a man hoping to catch a tenants cat that got away when they were moving. The cat has on a harness. So I took him a trap and he's been trying but only caught someone else's orange tabby.
But he kept at it and caught the lost girl last night. Thank goodness. However, he could only return her to the people's parents, since they are now in Arizona. Hopefully one day she'll get back to her people, but she's safe now.
Hopefully she will make it back to owners who moved to AZ, but for now is with their parents |
Then Saturday night I was contacted by a Halsey woman trying to catch kittens she'd seen in a berry patch by the railroad tracks. She came up that night to borrow kitten traps. Then a friend of hers caught the mom, so she was spayed at Alpine two days ago. They've now caught four of her five kittens and I think will catch the last one soon.
Mom was spayed a couple days ago courtesy of my nonprofit Happy Cat Club. |
Two of the kittens are Siamese, while three are black |
So far they've caught four of the five kittens |
Also, a rural Lebanon woman had a huge Lynx Point Siamese male show up in her barn. We'd already gotten five cats fixed there, or was it more, a mom had shown up with kittens. She got FCCO spots and we caught them all and all were fixed at the FCCO. And that was that, maybe two years ago. Until this big boy she calls Major Tom showed up.
Major Tom |
Major Tom, now, maybe Minor Tom, is now neutered, as of this morning. Also at Alpine.
Our weather has turned fall like and cool, mid 70's and it looks like our short hot summer might already be over. We may have rain over the weekend, or early next week.
Some think, "oh how great, summers' gone already." I think "oh fuck, the long gray is going to be even longer."
I'm glad that people are helping you trap. Here's hoping that you get some good days before the long gray settles in.
ReplyDeleteIt's been a depressing summer. started late, might end early. Extreme heat the month we had.
DeleteExcept for the last paragraph it's all good news!
ReplyDeleteYes, for these cats caught, although I'm not sure especially Major Tom would agree.
DeleteExcept for the last paragraph it's all good news!
ReplyDeletePeople are behaving decently, for a change.
ReplyDeleteSuccess. That sounds great. Sorry about the long gray, but that's better than the crazy heat, right? And perhaps it won't get too cool too quickly.
ReplyDeleteNo, I do love heat. And sun. The long gray is the most depressing miserable 9 months you could imagine.
DeleteDoes the Siamese mom need a home? How feral is she? We lost our Siamese almost 3 years ago, at 18 1/2 due to kidney failure. She kept our two boys in line.
ReplyDeletewhere do you l,ive?
Delete"Minor Tom" made me giggle. Thank you for sharing the good news for these kitties. I'm sorry you dread a long miserable period. ~hugs~ Best wishes, my dear.
ReplyDeleteI've come to hate winters here. Nothing one can do, really, constant wet and gray. I can't think of anything good.
DeleteA never ending job for sure!
ReplyDeleteYes it is.
