Off to the FCCO

13 cats accompanied me to Portland today.   Someone in LEbanon had a bunch of spots, but it fell to me to do the work of catching the wild ones, overnighting all 13 before surgery, taking them all the way up to Portland, bringing them home, returning some to the woman who got the spots, and recuperating the rest here tonight.  Too much on one person, especially since I didn't get the spots.

Let's hope the car stays running.  Another two trapping endeavors await in short order.

I caught Black Mama, who already had two litters this summer, over at the Lebanon complex.  The woman who got the spots lives next door and her sister lives in the complex.

I also caught the latest mom cat there and two of her three kittens.   Darn it I didn't catch the 3rd.

And then the Waterloo black mom of the three kittens fixed last Monday I caught and one more of her five kittens, leaving one lone Siamese kitten who still needs caught there, too.  Leftovers.  Two kittens in two places.  The Waterloo lady was once again no help at all.   What else is new.  There are more over there needing caught still.

Who else went today?  Three tame outside cats the spot getter had in the wings, two tame kittens from a stray mom she had inside her place and lastly two wild teens.  Those teens I caught across the street from her, three in all but one was fixed a couple weeks back.

So that's who went with me on the road trip.

Also, next door to someone I've helped repeatedly in the park, the property owner died.  he had a beloved three legged cat who has been in mourning.  The property will be sold sooner or later I suppose.  This is where I was trapping kittens too.   Deanna from Holley offered to give Bobo a refuge, at least for now, and met me over there in Waterloo, when I got him from folks on the property.

Bobo's a crusty old orange tabby, already neutered.

Anyhow, I left this morning about 6:00 a.m. and got home after 8:00 p.m.   I've fed the six I'm overnighting, unloaded the car, started the laundry and now I'm off to bed.

All five wild kittens turned out to be boys.  I don't know the sex of the two tame ones she had that went.  There were four adult females in the mix and two adult males.

13 more Lebanon area cats fixed, which is always a good thing.

I am glad that Bobo has a refuge and hope he finds a new home.

  3. I can barely get two cats into carriers and the car at the same time, so I can hardly imagine getting 13 at once! You definitely have some special talents.

    1. Lol, "I have a special set of skills". Isn't that the most common movie statement by do it all spy people now? It was in some movie I watched last week in fact. Well, I have a special set of skills too, spy people! And they're more useful than yours!

  4. A lot of work, but worth it in the end. I'm so sad for Bobo. He sounds like he was very much cared for.
