So Long Misty

 Misty's demise was sudden.

She remained a wild thing to her end. I called her "the Mosquito", as she flitted around the cat runs, darting up and down on the peripheal of my vision.  She was a tiny cat.

She was one of the business nine, from when was it, 2010 or 2011 I trapped them and then was told they couldn't return.   Misty was an adult when trapped so I have no idea her real age, somewhere around 13 or 14 maybe.

I noticed a week ago she seemed to have no energy and was sleeping on the floor instead of her usual cat run bed.   Sometimes she'd barely move when I"d go by, which with her being wild, was not normal, but I thought maybe she was finally calming down.  She's never let me touch her.

This morning, when I found her in the hall, sleeping, I gave her some cat treats, which she ate, but from a sitting position, not wanting to move.  I had to net her to get her into the bathroom.  She had some mats, as she'd quit grooming herself.  I cut a few of those off, thinking maybe those were impeding her movement, but then had to go get the kittens, so set her up in the bathroom with a heating pad.

But this evening, I went in and she was cold to the touch, despite the heat pad, and barely moved.  She died just moments later after coughing a couple times.  I think her heart gave out.

Five of her colony mates preceded her in death.   Raindrop died after falling off a cat run.   Stiletto died of kidney failure as did Sassy.    Cougie died of throat cancer.  Tilly died of a saddle clot.  Now only Haley, Rogue and Alexi remain of the Business Nine.

So long Misty.   She had a good life here and lots of friends.

Misty with Mums behind her.  Mums is another very old gal here.

Misty, in April of this year.

This was Misty before I trapped her at the mobile home manufacturing business.  So long Mosquito.

Gosh, you've lost so many of your cats in a couple of years and now bye bye Misty.

    1. Yes, and the ones left are for the most part, quite elderly. Comet is 19 now. Even Sam is closing in on 16. Pretty tough to watch, actually, and know I"m going to lose most of the rest of them very soon.

  3. Good bye, Misty. You gave her a safe and secure life. I know she appreciated it even if she did it in her own way.

  6. She was a beautiful cat, the very kind that I'm a sucker for. I know that I'll never have another kitten, and I know I'll never have a Turkish Angora either, but I'll go to my grave morning these things.

I'm awfully sorry for your loss. In the death of one can be seen the deaths of all.

    1. Very beautiful cat. I do love kittens too, Snow, but can only have them here a day or two, before moving them on or I'd be such a sucker and keep too many.

Younger Crowd

Besides the mostly very elderly cats here, a younger crowd provides entertainment.  For the most part, they're happy healthy and insane...
