I got a text, middle of the night, that there were two kittens in the kitten traps I left set over there. They keep odd hours at that place.
I went and got them this morning.
Meanwhile, I have another old gal failing. It's Misty, one of the manufactured home business cats, who ended up here, way back, about 11 years ago. She's elderly and had been losing energy and lately just laying on the floor. I put her in the bathroom and am shaving mats off her. She no longer grooms. Older cats often just quit doing that.
I got one side of her shaved before I went to get the kittens. It's not easy with her. She may be old and frail but she's quite feral and wanted none of it. We shall see how she does but maybe its her time. I couldn't believe how old she looks when I got up close. I've never petted her in my life--too wild. She still wants nothing to do with me.
There are only four of the original nine still alive from that colony. Her, Haley (who had been one of Panda's best friends), Rogue and Alexi.
So the kittens were with me all day and just left with Silverton Cat Rescue, who already took their sister.
When I was handing off the kittens, the neighbors had their trailer along the curb. I expressed my surprise to them, because I thought they'd left for their son's wedding already. No, tomorrow, but, they were selling their trailer. Oh, I say, you won't be going camping anymore? Well, as soon as they're back from the wedding they're putting the house up for sale and moving to Montana.
Yikes. That hit me like a ton of bricks although I tried not to show it.
I don't like the thought of getting new neighbors. I don't like anything about it. I worry about a cat hater moving in or someone with a zillion cars. We already have a car lot house, as I call it, on the block and their visitors and excess park in front of my place. And I hope people with a dangerous or constantly barking dog don't move in.
Well anyhow, nothing I can do about it. Gives me nerves though, to think about it. After Jack died, and the flipper company got done with the house, lucked out getting those folk, so maybe I'll luck out again. They've been good neighbors. I don't know them well, but they're the only people on the block who actually talk to me. I will miss them.
The weather was strange today. Briefly it was hot and humid, although very cloudy and overcast this morning. Then it cooled off fast and we're supposed to have rain in the night and all weekend. We may have a couple nice days next week I think.
So long kittens!
In today world, no one know about neighbors. Our neighbors place up for sale and it hasn't sold. But I worry about getting some far right extremist. They seem to migrate to North Idaho.

Yeah its tough to think about new neighbors. I'm trying to stay positive but the things I see out trapping, how neighbors treat one another, makes me wonder if my luck will hold and whether I'll get somebody decent or some angry nutcase. I do hate the car lot types, who cram their garages with stuff then spread their excess cars all over for others to "enjoy" and deal with. There are so many of those.
DeleteSo long kittens.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the long life you gave Misty - and I hope you get great new neighbours.
I'm hoping for the best, with new neighbors.
DeleteGood neighbours are a precious thing. That was quite a day for you and then Misty's demise.
ReplyDeleteYes, quite a day.
DeleteYou never know about neighbors. Currently we have a good group, but at our old house we lived next door to a house that had regular police visits, including a SWAT raid. Good luck.
ReplyDeleteOh brother, glad you left those neighbors behind.
DeleteYou need to release the worry about new neighbors. (I know, easier said than done.) Thinking about all the bad you could end up with just is asking the universe to send it to you. Imagine the best neighbors possible. That's you "ordering" the kind of neighbors you'll get next. There's every possibility they could be wonderful.
