Cascadia Fail

I headed up to Cascadia yesterday to pick up that man's female.  The female who is now in heat and whose last litter he relinquished, three of them anyhow, and went to KKR.

I'd had numerous texts from him that morning, which can be a warning sign with him, and planned to buy him kitten food and cat litter on my way up in Lebanon.

On my way, and halfway there, here comes the text.  I was driving so only glanced at it.  I saw it was in all caps and thought "Great".

I pulled over and read it.  He was backing out once again, yelling via text over the mandatory right ear tip.   He'd known she'd get one all along.  I'd told him and also that this clinic was currently my only option.  All that planning, all that shuffling to get a spot today, now down the drain once again.  Just like he did before, a year ago, only that time I got all the way to Cascadia to pick up his two cats, and he refused to answer the door of his trailer.  Myself and another homeless camper tried and tried to get him to open it, pounding on door and windows.  Later on he blamed the other woman, said that she never knocked.  Well, I was there too and yes we did knock.  I vowed then never to try again with him, figuring same thing would happen and sure enough.

I fell into depression at that point.  The stress of dealing with that situation had already thrown me for a loop.   So yesterday wasn't a good day.

I've taken steps to reduce my stress, over just about everything going on in the world.  I don't watch TV anymore.  No news is good news.  I turn my phone to silent most of the day and off at night.  And after next Monday, I have no spots for spay neuter made, so I plan to take the summer off.

I feel guilty doing so because I don't think anyone else in this county is out trapping for spay neuter.   But its not like people can't trap their own cats to take to be fixed.   Plenty of people do that.

The rain and snow in the mountains continues.  It's abnormal  What can I say, everything about life has changed.  The price of everything is ridiculously high, if you can even find what you're looking for.

I then stopped in at the Lebanon woman's place, on the way home, who now feeds the two cats left alive at the park.  I had cat food for her.  She asked if I wanted to ride with her to the park and I agreed.  I haven't been there in a long while.  She had told me it was about to flood and I couldn't believe how high the river is.

This is partly because they can't fill the reservoir upriver yet, due to the darn lawsuit.  The reservoir level is still way low and yet down stream its flooding.  How crazy is that?   It still astounds me our reservoirs look like Lake Powell and Lake Mead and all the rest that are going dry, because of drought, yet ours is this way because of a lawsuit.  That's how nuts our world is right now.

This is at the front of the park.  The river is about two feet maybe less from overflowing the bank there, at which point they close the park.  That used to be a viewing/fishing platform, but its base got eroded by a flood a couple years back.

A lot of that water rushing by in the enlarged river, could be saved for later this summer in the two reservoirs.   Well, could have been before the lawsuit and injuction that is.

Someone moved the picnic tables up so they wouldn't float away.

I came home and in the evening, went to an Albany house where there are 15 or so cats who need fixed and got one of those, to fill the spot today.   Some are mostly tame, some not.   The rest hopefully will be fixed Friday at the FCCO.   The Lebanon woman will drive them up and back.

Tigger, getting spayed today

There are no rainless days in the forecast.   This morning it was 38 degrees out when I got up.   Snowplows are working in the mountains.  This isn't normal May weather.  We really have not yet had spring arrive and yet there is only a month left of spring.

  1. Big, big sigh.
You need summer off - and of course people can (and should) look after their own cats...

I can see in the clip the water is flowing so fast. 38 sounds cold. Isn't 32 freezing point.

  3. Not a fail. You just need to cut that guy out of your phone. I know, maybe this time you'll get to fix the cat. But probably not. Not worth the headache. And you've done so much already. Enjoy taking the summer off.

    1. Yeah, he's cut out now. There are plenty of cats out there whose owners really want them fixed, without the game playiing.

  4. Again, I wish you could visit Southwest Ohio. ~sigh~ Caesar Creek's manmade lake is nothing like the ocean (which I miss dearly), but we could share great times there this summer.

For fun, here's a general link:

    Best wishes, my dear.

    1. I would so love to visit. I'll check out the link. I've really never been much of anywhere, except for working in Alaska when I was young.

    1. Yeah, that's all I"m trying to do, make the world less harsh for the cats, due to overpopulation and not enough homes or resources for all.

Last few spots for spay neuter before the official break. I took in five today.  I was going to drive over six.  The sixth is a friendly ma...
