Victory!

Only a cat woman would declare victory when the neighbor cat finally puts out a significantly sized poop of appropriate consistency.

Ha!

That was yesterday and after a week of daily cat lax and other remedies.  The poor cat would strain and strain in the litter box, even at first putting out tiny drops of blood, from straining.   She could only produce teensy hard slivers of poop for her efforts.

A week later and lots of home remedies later, including catlax and tuna oil, VICTORY!

The tiny things that make me happy.

She has vomited multiple times in the last week, which is consistent to having a tied up gut, for whatever reason.   If you try to take in food from one end, but it won't come out the other, it will come back out where you put it in.

She has not vomited in the last two days at least.

It's been cold and wet and icky.   I don't know when the next day without rain might be.  I think the news said yesterday next Wednesday, in referring to when a person might be able to mow their lawn again..  Can you believe accuweather does not predict another day where it reaches 70 degrees til the very end of May?   Now that is depressing.

I got a call again from some homeless folk way up in Cascadia.   They had fed all those cats, kittens I tried to help was it last summer or the summer before?  I can't even remember anymore.   The place where in the end, the people living on one side, got legal ownership of the property then kicked the couple off the property.   Anyhow, they moved to another homeless camp farther up, and now they're being evicted from that one by county code enforcement.   But they want to get their two cats, both from the original colony, fixed.  They don't know if they'll be forced out by Sunday, the day I"d pick them up.   They said they'd borrow a phone again and call if that happens.

I'm going up Sunday to try to get the cats, but it may end up a waste of gas money if I can't find them.   I salute them for trying to get their cats fixed despite their own difficult situation.

Monday I have five reservations.   I have only ten reservations the month of May, then no more for the summer.  However I'm helping at another Albany situation where they may be 20 or so needing fixed, but she got FCCO reservations for a couple weeks from now and the Lebanon lady will transport them.  All I have to do is trap them.  That's not bad, especially them being here in town too.

That's about it for news around here these days.   Same old.  Rain and gray and ick and nothing much else.

I'm really really tired of the political ads running nonstop, same ones over and over, as the May primary approaches.   I can't vote for candidates in the primary because I am unaffiliated with the two favorite teams.   I do not have the fan mentality to loyally adhere to either of the political power teams and think the "we're all right, you're all wrong" mentality is ridiculous and for follower type people.  There's a very independent minded former Democrat running for Governor  of Oregon as "unaffiliated".  I will vote for Betsy Johnson.    I think if we're ever to get things done, the two political "teams" need dissolved so we Americans can start thinking for ourselves again.   I am proudly unaffiliated.

  1. That could be refreshing to dissolve political parties. When we lived in New Orleans, you were not bound to one ballot for primary voting. All candidates were on all ballots. I liked that. Louisiana has a long history of crooked politicians and that was true when we were there, but I think they were doing somethings right.

    1. Long history of crooked politicians---what a legacy, probably still true. I'm not sure what legacy Oregon politicians might have. Maybe lazy. To allow the state to deteroirate as we have with so much crime and homelessness yet skyrocketing rent. Oh I don't know. I would not know how to solve all these major problems. Happy there are long lines of eager beavers wanting to be chosen to try to solve the problems.

  2. I hear you on the political ads. We are heading for an election and they are everywhere. To add insult to injury one of our local candidates has my email (how I know not) and sends me almost daily updates - and pleas for funds. It would be a chilly day in hell before I could support him or his party.
I hope that you can assist the homeless people. And that the rain eases off. It is bucketting down here as I type.

    1. Sounds like you're getting good rain there too. We've had plenty. It can stop anytime now. Yeah I don't like the political ads. The most frequent come from an out of state funded candidate who hasn't even voted in Oregon for years. Not voted anywhere in fact and could have voted absentee---didn't bother. And suddenly he wants other people to vote for him, the guy who didn't bother to vote? Ha, makes me laugh out loud and think ok, Mr. Silly.

You are the second person this week to suggest the two party system should be dissolved. We are not hearing much about US politics now, and that must be a good thing.

  4. I bet it felt like a win for the cat, too. It's not pleasant when you can't poop.

  5. This is a win worth celebrating for the poor kitty. Well done. ~hugs~ I wish those well-meaning homeless folk all the best. Take care, my dear.

    1. Thanks. My petsit stint is over, thank goodness, and happy she began pooping normally before it was over. Headed up there tomorrow to try to locate that couple to get their cats so they can be fixed. I know they worry about it, especially when being forced out over and over.

    1. I'll be very happy when the primary is done with. But then comes the plague of ads for the November general election. It also kills me to think about how much money is, in my opinion, being burned for politicating and the good things it could accomplish elsewhere.

The 4th

Happy the 4th is over.   It's the fireworks.   They terrify some of my cats.  Not the old deaf ones.   Gigi hid under the cat stairs in...
