Craziness

Covid is ravaging Oregon.   And no wonder.

When on facebook I read about people who say they were sick an entire vacation, didn't think to get tested, flew home and are so glad to be home and are health care workers, and then once  home test positive for Covid, I think ok these people probably just killed several others, who caught covid from them, couldn't handle it, and died.  And then in their comments, no they weren't vaccinated or they had one vaccine.   Folks like this should be in jail.   My relatives probably infected lots of people on their "covid trip".

Oh brother.   This is nuts.  Health care workers not vaccinated?    OK, get the vaccine or get fired.  No, you don't care about your patients if you're not getting the vaccine and yes, you should be in a different profession if you don't believe in vaccines.

We need to get meaner about complete stupidity that is killing innocent people.

I'm in a negative mood this morning.  Got the city water bill and its over $120 for last month. That's partly or mostly all these add on fees, like storm water fees and now some $9 a month tax for the city to use for whatever the hell they want.  Who ever heard of paying so much of your monthly income for water?  Who ever heard of the city using the water bill as their personal bank account like adding that kind of tax to someone's monthly expenses has no affect whatsoever on anyone. Oh wait, everyone in Portland has heard of that.   It's just so depressing.  It won't ever get smaller, their tax, only bigger.   What is someone on a fixed income to think?   Or do?  Makes me crazy trying to plan out what to do.

I don't water my yard.   I have watered a few bushes this summer.  I will take the bushes out in the next months so that won't be an issue again.  Cat laundry takes water, showering and doing dishes too but that's all I use water for.  Should that cost over $120 a month?

For now I will start collecting cans wherever I go.

Its not as easy anymore to return cans.  Used to be, you could return them pretty much any store that sold drinks.   Now, there's only one place in Albany you can return them and that's the bottle drop and its icky, crazy busy and dirty.  I hate going there.  I put it off and off and usually just recycle the few cans I have each month.  Anyhow, everything seems to have gotten a little harder these days.  And more expensive.   Food and gas are both sky high now, for instance.

My life is ok though, compared to lots of people in the world.   I'm super frugal.  Everything in this place is pretty much scrounged, including my clothes.  I have the same bedding I had 20 years ago.  Never have had my hair cut professionally or been to a salon, stuff like that.  I live as cheap as I can, so I can do a few things like get to the lake with my kayak.  Anyhow, yeah I"m complainy today.

I don't think the city should be involved in creating greater poverty though.  I think that's wrong.

  1. We get those add on taxes here as well. Sometimes for great causes. Things which the city SHOULD be funding, from the money they already extract from us. They are virtually impossible to avoid too.

    1. I get all worried until I figure out a way to afford these new taxes.

  2. We all have and need a complainy day now and then.

My cousins is one of the exceptions to the unvaccinated health care workers. She has had bad reactions to previous vaccines and was advised not to get this one. However, she is tested at least weekly for COVID. But there are a whole lot of people out there who don't have her excuse.

    1. That's a good excuse though. Sounds like she is very reliably tested so she's not infecting patients, too. Oregon is in a very bad way with Covid. They just cancelled the Art and Air festival for this weekend. I kind of figured they might but didn't think they would do it so close to when its to be. Must be hard on the vendors and even the balloonists who were coming.

  3. Half the staff at local hospital refuse to get vaccinated. There plenty of stupid people around.

    1. I am shocked at the numbers of unvaccinated health care workers. It just came out a Springfield outbreak began with an unvaccinated nurses aid, at a nursing home. Five dead, dozens infected. She should be charged, really. There's no excuse of such negligance. The elderly at nursing homes cannot escape.

  4. I don't know what to do but offer a virtual hug. Be well, my dear.
