Getting Things Done

I'm happy to have the two oldest cat structures out of here, finally.  The place looks so much better without them.  The cats are adjusting, thankfully.

I brought the futon in, although I hadn't moved things needing moved for that, yet.  I will.  Just have to let my joints rest up some first.

I put it for now in front of the cat structure that I was going to move.   I won't move it, I don't think.  Instead I'll eventually put the futon with its back to the front window and move the TV cabinet so I can watch TV from there.

The cats approval of the futon was instant.  And I promptly fell asleep on it.  It's not as long as advertised, but surprisingly sturdy.  It came in two sections. The only assembly required was to add six legs, two at each end and two in the middle.  The middle two legs join the two sections on the bottom, via a base board the futon cushions are already attached to.  One bolt, on each middle leg, attaches to each side of that base board. That is all that holds the two sections together in the middle, on the futon's bottoms.  Yikes.

The back support sections of the futon, when you have it in couch mode, ratchet to recline, partially or totally.  You can recline half of the back or all of it.  Both ends of the seat section also partially incline, if you desire them to.  You just pull up to incline an end and pull it all the way up to release, so it will fall back down flat.  The incline or recline function is probably its weak point, over time.

I love it and love having a piece of furniture like that again.  I particularly like the incline function.  Last night I placed a pillow on one inclined end, and instantly fell asleep.  I didn't realize the other end was also inclined and woke up with one leg hurting terribly. The incline on my leg end put some unnatural force on my legs and feet.  This futon, although advertised as six feet long, is four inches shy of six feet.  I'm just over 5'8" tall, so I need every inch of the its length if my feet don't stick out over the edge.

We have a rain event again going on and may get three more inches of rain in the valley between last night and tonight.  The coast range could get twice that amount.  Which is a great deal of rain for our soggy soils and our rivers and streams to handle.  This is the third such event in the last couple of months.  Today I hope to take my car to the brake folks to check out the one grinding brake on the rear and also to get a front end alignment, which Costco said I needed, when I got the two front tires there.

Trying to get things done.  Winter is the best time to do projects, get them out of the way, to clear time in the summer, I hope for taking my raft to the lake.  And I also I have so few spay neuter appointments lately I have the time.  I already have cats lined up for my next two Friday appointments of five each of those days and not sure yet if I'll get any in February.

  1. I'm glad the piece is working out, though sorry you woke with pain. ~hugs~ You've got me thinking about getting a raft some day. :) Of course, now I'm happily busy with kittens. Take care of yourself, my dear.

    1. I love those new kittens of yours! I find it peaceful out on the water, although lately it has been tough, with a zillion other people on the lake at same time. Its really hard to even find a parking space. It will be worse this coming summer, since Detroit burning in the wildfires and most Salem area folk went to Detroit reservoir. It may benearly impossible to get on the lake this coming year. And too crowded to enjoy if I can find a parking space.

    2. Too many people have moved to Oregon and the result has been horrible on local recreation sites. Trashing, crowding, nowhere to park, too much drinking and rowdy behavior. I don't know where to go really anymore.

The futon sounds good. If Costco fitted the new tyres, I am surprised it doesn't have the facility to align the wheels.

    1. Two are Costco tires, two are Schwab tires. No, Costco doesn't do alignment.
