Five Cats Today

I had today's five cats lined up over a week ago, and next Friday's also are lined up and should be easy.

I drove to Sweet Home to pick up two of them, one on River Road again, but not the same place the last two River Road cats came from.  This place was almost to the dam, on Foster Reservoir.

The other Sweet HOme cat was one of two female teens they have needing done.  But once loaded in the car, the woman says she and her husband will be on vacation today, but that someone will be at the apartment to receive the cat.

When people go on vacation in the winter here, usually means they're going to the coast to watch the storms, eat clam chowder and look for treasures blown in on the high surf. Or maybe go crabbing themselves off the end of some pier and cook the crab in a pot over a big bonfire on the beach.  I didn't ask her where they're going.  I felt uneasy though, that someone may not be there today when I return the cat.

The other three cats came from finish up places.  A black boy cat came up from Shedd.  His girlfriend, both having been on the property when the people moved in there, was fixed last week.  Two girl teens are getting fixed from south Albany.  Their siblings were fixed last week and their wild mom was fixed several weeks ago.

I got another 8 cement blocks placed in the cat yard yesterday between rain storms.

And got a bag of ready mix cement so I can have some fun making the next ones myself and embellishing them up however I like.

I was excited that Oregon opened up vaccinations to those 65 and up, starting the 23rd.  That went down the tubes today when they announced the state was to be sent vaccine stock from the federal vaccine reserve to start up the 65 plus vaccinations, only to find out there is no federal reserve of vaccines.  The state and others expecting the shipments had been had, by the Tump admin.  Big surprise.

My hopes had gone sky high to think I could be vaccinated very soon.  And today down the tubes on it.   The only seniors scheduled to be vaccinated are those over 80, starting in February.

Well, here are the cat fixing photos for today.

HalfStache, one of the two girls from Albany

Mustache, the other Albany girl

Simba, the teen from Sweet Home whose people went vacationing today and I sure hope there really is someone else there to receive her back.  I'm sure there will be.

Shedd boy Licorice

And lastly, Sweet Home black tux boy CB.
Have a nice weekend everyone!

  1. I'm not sure it will make a difference to you, but I have a friend who lives in your area who is a retired doctor. He is going to volunteer to help give the vaccine to see if that will speed anything up.

My 87 yo father-in-law lives in VA and is desperate to get the vaccine. So far, the numbers of people wanting to be vaccinated has been overwhelming and he can't get a response about an appointment either online or on the phone. I guess the good news in all of this is that there are a lot of people out there willing to take the vaccine.

    1. Yes, everyone I know wants to get it. I know a lot of nurses and they have all gotten theirs. Now they say the feds were supposed to send out an extra supply but they found out the supply at the federal level doesn't exist. The governor is mad about it, says those were the shipments they were going to use to ramp up and get seniors 65 and up done. They claim that's why its now put off. There are high volume clinics going on for the two counties north of mine and to the south, but nothing in ours, that i know of. Those clinics still are only for health care providers, in private practise, seniors and workers in care homes too. The next group to get access here will be teachers. Then seniors 80 and up they say. After that, the general public that includes 16 to 79 year olds, I think. I hope your friend the retired doctor can volunteer. I think they need everyone they can get, if they ever get an adequate supply.

As said above, it is good that people are really keen to be vaccinated but bad luck for you, for now anyway. Good work on the cat front too, with more good work to come next week.

Over and Done

I went off to Portland yesterday with 13 Lebanon cats. I thought I had 14 Lebanon cats in the car.  Ha!  I accidentally forgot to load one ...
