And Another Nine

I got worn out yesterday.  I took nine cats to be fixed.

I suppose this wore me out more than usual because of the driving involved.  One tame boy from Lebanon was fixed at Heartland in Corvallis.  The other 8 were fixed in Salem.  So I drove first to Salem with 8, then to Corvallis with 1.  Then I drove to Sodaville to pick up a kitten in a trap there.  Home again.  Then off to Heartland to pick up the boy done there, drove him back to LEbanon, then off to Salem to pick up the 8.

That's on top of keeping up with the usual chores here, which take hours everyday.

So I got worn out.

But caught all five kittens, in the end, at the colony. Two went to Heartland and I still have three.  One has a home to go to with a guy who adopted a kitten from me 16 years ago.  She has died now and he is ready for another.

With kitten juggling too, that wore me down and out.

Complain, complain, eh?

Today I returned the other 8 cats and picked up a 9th trapped there this morning.  There are still two big males there needing caught, but they're so busy fighting with each other, not sure they'll take time off from that to go for food in a trap.  Fighting is a serious full time male job this time of year.

The 9th will be fixed Thursday at Heartland, thank goodness.

Six of the eight from Sodaville were girls.  Two were lactating and the other four were pregnant.  They're not pregnant anymore.  That's life, you pro life folks, real life, where when too many are born, starvation, suffering and death happen.  We actual pro lifers understand this horrible fact and have to make choices based in reality, not dreamland, to promote and save life.  I'll just say its the reality with the human population too.   At least we're not euthanizing excess human adults and kids, like we do with animals.  Sort of not.  War and diseases/starvation that come with human overpopulation are one way our species keeps our numbers down. Strangely, these horrors named (war, starvation, disease, poverty, overcrowding, lack of jobs, resources) don't bother human pro lifers like aborting fetuses.  I have no clue as to why.

So anyhow....

Here are 8 of the 9 fixed yesterday, all from Sodaville.  I forgot to take a photo of Floki, the tabby on white owned male from Lebanon, fixed at Heartland.   Oh well.

When I returned the cats the two boys fixed, Mutt and Jeff, brothers, were so happy to be home they sniffed noses and were going to rub cheeks when suddenly they realized they're now big bad rivals and one huffed up and the other snarled and the sweet little reunion moment was gone.  Thanks to hormones.  That, if they survive the next two months, will be so diminished they'll be brothers again.

  1. Not surprised you are knackered.
The pro-lifers seem to belong to the 'every sperm is sacred' camp, and don't give any though (or consideration) to quality of life questions. For either the mother or the precious foetus.

    1. Yes I would say you're right on pro lifers. Isn't funny men never face the consequences as women do. Not funny at all.

Interesting point about life and the loss of it. It is only going to get worse as more people die from global warming effects. Yet I would guess many pro lifers are also climate change deniers, or don't see it as a big problem.
