More Kittens

The new colony has about 10 adult cats.  There were also 7 kittens, that I saw at least.

By last night, when I asked her to put the tame male in a carrier, to get him out of the mix for trapping this morning, two kittens at least had been hauled off by a neighbor.

I took two others, including that strangely tiny long hair gray, whom I should have taken last Monday when I first saw it and knew it was doing poorly.

By last night, when I picked up the tame male, the poor thing had both eyes sealed shut in green gunk and was so dehydrated he easily could be picked up, light as a dead leaf, on the deck.  Yikes.  I brought him, and the orange tabby boy from another litter home, and immediately gave the little gray one I called Skelter, sub cu fluids, put him on a heat pad, fed him KMR.

I think that mother stole him from the other litter and her two kittens are older and weaned, so she had nothing to give him and he nearly died and still may die.

By this morning he was a little better and I gave him more sub cu fluids and Heartland took both Skelter and the little orange guy---Rumple I named him, who quickly ditched the hiss for play.

I figured the only chance he might have to survive would be there with Heartland.

Skelter this morning.  He could lap KMR.  His spine protruded but kittens are amazing and he may make it.

Rumple, the little orange tabby guy who immediately forsook his feral birth right for the obvious luxuries of pampered living (toys, lots of toys).
Both boys are at Heartland.  Hopefully Skelter will make it.  Good luck boys.

Chatter is meanwhile being pampered by a foster family that includes a doting little girl.

Made me happy to hear that.

So I have two more kittens now in my bathroom and another in a trap up at the Sodaville colony.

I also caught 8 of the 10 known adults.  The absent female rarely comes by and the male hasn't been a regular for a couple weeks either, but we shall see.  She's still trapping, but all the regulars and the kittens are now in hand.  13 in total.

Good day's work.  Tomorrow the adults get fixed along with a Lebanon male.

So long for now.

  1. An excellent days work.
I hope that Skelter does make it, which he wouldn't without your support. You gave him a chance which is more than anyone else has done.

  2. More good work. I think Skelter will make it. You did just what he needed to turn things around.
