Familiar Faces

A few familiar faces.....and we're all getting old around here...

Fantasia in November 2018
Fantasia and Echo, the Quirky sisters, are both 9 years old now.  Fantasia remains strange, a nervous girl, and quite the target and obsession of Slinko.  Slinko bullies her and alternately is bullied by her.  Most of the time they get along.  She loves to sleep with me and be on my lap.  Echo is far more independent and self assured.  Echo's current best friend is the elderly Soloman.  She adores him and he adores her.  They were so cute as kittens but not quite normal and so never got homes.  They came from a house that produced many interesting cats in downtown Albany, like a male calico and like Tiny Tim, whom I flew with to his new home in HB, one Halloween.  Their brothers got homes, but their mom, Meesa, who is 11 years old (at least), and the sisters, remain here.

Sister spat, when they were just teens.  Seems like yesterday but that was many many years ago.

I used to call Fantasia Bat Girl, because she enjoyed hanging upside down from things.

Tiny Tim, from the same place I trapped Fantasia, Echo and Meesa, was a surprise one night, there trapping again.  I'd seen him, in the dark, come flopping up the sidewalk, needing food obviously, and in big trouble from an old injury.  I trapped him and took him off to the vet who said his knee had been torn up by a dog and the only option was amputation.  So he had that bad leg removed.  That plane trip, to his new home in Huntington Beach, was the last time I've been on a plane and it was fabulous.  My brother donated his points so I could go.  I flew out of Portland with Tim on Alaska airlines. Tim and I were treated like royalty, even moved to first class.  I had three hours in HB, and Kate took me all over.  I even saw the boardwalk at the beach and waded in the ocean.  Kate has been through many life changes since then, but Tim is still with her.  The one photo of me, dated 2009, is me on that memorable 3 hour vacation in HB.

Slinko!
Slinko has thrived here in the years since I trapped him amongst a feral colony.  He behaves wild to visitors but is in fact a sweetie with me.  He is my guard dog, stations himself beside me as if to take on any threat.  He likes to be held and sleep with me but is not very adept socially with other cats.  he tries, and sometimes he doesn't try so hard and gets in trouble for being mean to someone.   Slinko still gets quite a few time outs.  He and Fantasia are obsessed with one another.

Slinko is between ten and eleven years old.

Solomon watches the neighborhood
Solomon is well loved here by many cats, including Oci and Echo.   He and his sister are at least 13 now.

Panda is Solomon's sister and such a sweet girl.  She has had a heart murmur all her life and can no longer undergo anesthesia but she's doing ok, outside of arthritis setting into her hips.  She can't jump so well shelf to shelf any longer.
Stiletto in silhouette!  At 8 or so years old Stiletto is one of the younger cats here.  She is funny and fun!

  1. How nice that they have found a haven with you.
I am a bit like Slinko. Socialising doesn't come easily (or naturally) to me. I try (mostly) but sometimes fail.

    1. I doubt you are much like Slinko, EC, because I bet when you do interact you are kind about it. Not so much Slinko.

  2. Awww... Thank you for sharing. What a delightful crew. I still can't believe Tilly is seventeen or eighteen. She still jumps on the couch and her eyes are bright. Jezebel isn't much younger and still climbs the seven foot tall cat trees. It's a joy to give them good quality of life.

I did go to the market. ~nods~ Thanks for the boost. I got quite a few good words written and more than a few smiles watching the oblivious crowd interact below the mezzanine. There were lots of cute families. Those sights are entertaining when I let my typing fingers go idle.

    1. Well good, glad you got out of the house. It's quite a temptation to hibernate in the winter here in Oregon. I must fight the urge! Or not.

It's nice to have some history about your resident cats. First class in a plane hey. I wish.
