What's Going On?

Well, our air is supposed to get better by tomorrow, as colder air moves in.

Portland had like the 6th worse city air in the world for awhile there.  Not something anybody in Oregon wants to hear.  It's from the wildfire smoke, mostly blown down from British Columbia.   It's been awful here in the valley too.  Orange sun, if you can even see it through the haze of smoke and extreme dust churned  up by grass seed farmers tilling.  AWFUL!

Two nights ago, a friend said, "we live in hell".  I had to agree.  So we drove to the coast yesterday.  There it was foggy, sweatshirts required.  We stopped and ate buffet at the Casino, then went to the beach for a brief walk.  I was very very sleepy, for some reason.   Her dog liked me, wanted to be on my lap the entire way, which was awkward, since its a large dog.

Political drama is at its peak in America.  I can barely stand to hear any news at all.   Like middle school.

Or worse

A hurricane is trying to give Hawaii more grief.  As if the constant eruptions of the volcano on the big island are not enough.

In the cat world here, Ganji moved on, after a ferry ride across the Willamette Tuesday night, to meet up with my friend who places barn cats.

Today, N. Albany parking lot kitten Scooty, along with trailer park girls Whispy and Half Pint, moved on, now living with a friend.  Scooty seemed very pleased with her new home.
Scooty tamed fast and is delighted with her new home

The sisters from the trailer park, Half Pint and Whispy, are smart and curious and will be fine.

Last night, I went to try to find Scooty's sister again, in the parking lot.  Saw her dad.  I know it was her dad.  He was massive, light orange, a mackerel tabby too, with one crunched hematoma ear.  When he came down the trail, the three skinny tabbies flirting around my car in the parking lot, ran for cover.  He is a scary looking dude cat, that's for sure.  Would not want to be a young adult male with him around.

Somebody needs neutered.

I did catch one of the teens.  Calling him Markus, although I don't know yet if its a boy or girl.  Quite gorgeous!

Last night, as I headed to the parking lot, to look for Scooty's sister, the muted torti, the Lebanon complex tenant called.  She'd caught the final female there.  Thank goodness.  We celebrated on the phone together.   She'd already caught her four four-week old kittens.  She tried to use them as bait to get mom but mom seemed happy they were gone.  Hmmm.  Guess she's over them.

She'll also be over having more, as of Monday.

I picked up all five this morning.   Mom will be fixed Monday.  The kids will head to Heartland on Sunday.

Well that's about it as for the news around these parts.  I'm off to nap!

  1. From the reports I hear, the northwest is having definitely air quality problems. I hope you can breathe easier soon.

  2. Nap well.
    I hope your air clears.
We are having political shenanigans here too. I am over it. So very over it.
And thank you for yet another batch of lives improved.

    1. I love my naps! I hope the air clears too. Today it was still like hell had descended or ascended or something. Uck.

  3. Scooty has the kind of face that I love in a cat, by which I mean it has a triangular shape with triangular eyes, and a nose area that pooches out (although "pooches" might not be the best word to use when describing a cat). By contrast, Markus is not my cup of tea, looks-wise (although he looks a whole lot like our oldest, Brewsky) because his face is large and round. Peggy doesn't like it when I say that Brewsky is fourth in looks in a field of four, but it doesn't mean that I love him less, because he's superb in other ways, such as being by far our most easy-going cat.

Our air was so funky on Thursday that the sun never broke through the smoke. Then yesterday, the air was unusually blue. I guess you heard about the 4,500 acre Terwilliger Fire (named after a popular hot spring by the name) that has spread to both sides of Cougar Reservoir and is only 2% contained.

I'm actually enjoying the news of late because it looks like the administration might be on the verge of unraveling, and because I love it that Trump is so miserable that he can't sleep. It's sad to hate someone to the point that I genuinely want him to suffer, but I do. No harm could be so awful that I wouldn't wish it on Trump. I just hope he doesn't purposefully bring the country down with him, which I can easily imagine him doing.

By the way, if you mailed that cancelled check, it never came. I only mention this so that you won't be wondering what happened if you did mail it. We have a new carrier who is leaving mail all over the place. He can't even get it together to leave tracked packages in the right place.

    1. I forgot to mail it, and by that description of your carrier, maybe I won't. We have problems here too with mail. I got a note about a package without enough postage I needed to get at the PO. I had been home all day and the carrier didn't even come to the door to attempt a delivery. I finally got it at the PO. It had many stamps on it, and was light, yet said postage due to the tune of over$2. My brother was perplexed when I sent him a photo of the postage due package with stamps. The overall cost would have been over $5, with the stamps and the amount I paid. It was not postage due at all, in fact had more than enough stamps to cover. He was going to show the photo to the post office down there. The PO here, when I picked it up, said they couldn't get enough employees so the carriers were extremely over worked. Budget cuts I guess, they claimed, meant the workers they have must work horrendous hours. I cut them slack for that. I know how it is to be worn out and unable to even make a few steps extra. I just caught Scooty's sister and she has the same triangular face. They sure are different in looks, various cats, from head shape to eye placement and yet some folks can't seem to tell one black cat from another. To me, that is strange indeed. I too like the angular faces.

Trip to Beach

My Lebanon friend who gets so carsick, said she was going to the coast yesterday, did I want to go too. Of course I did.  She has to drive ...
