No, no, no, no, no

More and more kittens.  They are everywhere!

I trapped two cats for a developmentally disabled woman I helped before, after stopping by there the other night.  One was a pregnant girl. The boy was already neutered and had bad eyes.  He could go to whs but because they do not officially take in cats from our county, but would make an exception for him so he could have treatment, the actual feeder would need to take him up and surrender him.  But how's that to happen, when I am so busy, and she is DD?

So I took him back to his only known home for now.  He sleeps under the shed.  But her caregivers were there today and began throwing shit my way, for bringing any back, like it was somehow my fault, my responsibility, to take them all off somewhere.  They think she should stop feeding them, cats she's fed for a long time.  I tried to defend her, and the cats, but was so tired, from being out so late, trapping somewhere else, where the cats will be shot if I don't remove them.  The passive aggressive push your buttons attitudes were disgusting.

There are kittens under her shed, from a black tux mom who has had too many litters.   The caregivers rolled their eyes when they heard that, said "oh gawd".

Who does that?  Who is that uncaring, that they are not, instead, concerned about the kittens?  And the mom.

Afterall, they watched this situation develop and did nothing.  A stranger came in by chance, me, and is solving it, by golly.  Don't put me down or toss that passive aggressive stuff my way.  Just say "thank you".

I trapped the black tux mom this evening.   then I went after the kittens, under the shed.  It was not easy at all.   Took me hours, laid on my stomach.  The space between the shed side and the fence wasn't more than a foot.   And the kittens were clear under the back corner.  I had to tear out and cut down the berry vines first, with my hands and a pocket knife, because that was all I had.  I had to lay on my belly in that small space on gravel, and the sharp edges dug into my elbows and knees.  I had to dig out gravel, so I could get an arm under the shed to get to them.  I'm cut up, bruised and torn, but I got all three out.  There were seven.  I searched for the other four, but found only the three.  After I got them home, I realized why there are only three of the seven  still alive.  They have URI's.  Tiny kittens, barely 12 days old.  They have colds.  They probably won't survive either.

But black tux mom will never have kittens again.  And she won't be returning there, either.

I got home and took the other black tux, the one I trapped out at the trailer place where they will be shot if I don't get them out, the place where there's a gate closed over the road at 5:00 or 6:00, so to check traps, I have to leave my car and walk in a quarter mile, well she'd been in a cage, all nice and comfortable, and I had to remove her from that cage, so the black tux mom and her three kittens could go into it.

Later, I set up my one other cage and was trying to transfer the black tux mom from the trailer place into it, when I realized she was in the process of having kittens.   She was straining and having a hard time.   She's still straining to get the first one out.  She's so skinny I would not have guessed she was pregnant.

I have caught five from the trailer place.  The last one is just a kitten.   They're all to go to a Portland woman who relocates ferals, once fixed at the FCCO.   But of the five caught, the trailer business wants one of them back.  That leaves four.  And now one of those is having kittens.  So we're down to three and one of those is a kitten. Oh well, there's still one day left to trap before they're to be fixed and go.

That was my day today.  Finally, its over.  I hope.

    1. Thanks EC. When I am tired, everything seems so bleak and seems like nothing goes right. But if I get enough sleep, all is well, even when it really isn't. Sleep is just a nice healer of mind and body. Today I sleep most of the day! Be a great day!

  2. You certainly had an exhausting day! The kittens under the shed reminded me of when one of my cats got out and was under a shed where I could not get to her. After waiting a while, I got my son's toy vacuum cleaner that made a noise like a regular vacuum, and turned it on under the shed. That scared her enough that she darted out and we caught her. It was mean to scare her, but we had tried everything else and we didn't want to leave her out overnight.

    1. You gotta do what you gotta do and you got her out! Darn sheds, just enough space under them usually for a cat, or kittens, or....a skunk.

    1. Well, the first three, the ones I dug out from under the shed, are doing ok today. Mom is nursing them. But the other female, from the trailer place, who began having kittens last night, has so far had three deceased kittens, the third being pushed out only tonight. She must be exhausted. Poor babies though. And now the kitten I trapped, same place, has suddenly crashed. Poor thing, very very dehydrated, diarrhea, probably worm caused. Don't know if she will make it. To top it off, she's either in heat or pregnant, and is not even four months of age which has probably caused the severe health issues that may kill her, along with fleas and worms.

  5. Hi Strayer. I get paid on Friday, I'll send a donation via Pay Pal. We know the cats and kittens need funds for spay/ neuter, medical attention, food and transport. Thank you for continuing to do the good work!
