I is for Intense

It's just another A to Z blog post day.

Because of yesterday's trip to Portland.....

I is for Intense

Helping people who live way out in Sweet Home, with cat fixing is intense in itself.  Takes 45 minutes to drive up there, one way.

I drove up and back a couple of times, to deliver traps and sit and yack while traps were set.  She feeds mostly males, but we did catch the pregnant torti too, along with five big males, an ear tipped skinny gray and white, who seems on death's door, and a fixed torti kitten.  Where'd she come from?  They don't know.

Ultra skinny gray tux, with ear tip already.  Seems on deaths door, so frail and thin.

They have cable and a big screen TV in the trailer.  I sat enthralled, on a comfy chair, watching Deadliest Catch.  I didn't even know it was still on the air.   I could have sat there hours, in front of the cable connected TV.  Intense!  Cable!   So many channels to choose from.  Their lives seemed luxurious with cable and that big easy chair.

Yesterday I drove the seven cats all the way to Portland and the FCCO clinic.  I was sleep deprived somewhat, didn't get my usual 8, but also excited to get out of town for a change, to the big city.  On a Sunday too, when traffic should be lighter.  The FCCO said I could sleep in their parking lot in my car and I did.  Then off to Tigard Winco to get some cat food and go eat lunch in my favorite time killing parking lot of all, where I also took another nap.

Back to the FCCO, still with an hour to spare before I could pick up the cats.  I pulled out a book I'd bought at Value Village while in Tigard, The Grapes of Wrath, and read until I dropped off asleep.

Once I startled awake, I walked the neighborhood.  The new clinic location is on a steep hill on the west side.  You would get in great shape just walking around that neighborhood.  It's like mountain climbing. The walk I took was down, down and more down.  Then, you guessed it----up up and more up back to the clinic.  Intense!
I hiked down and down, hoping to somehow find a river park, but never did.  I found a stairwell to climb back to Corbett St, and along it, this sign.

Well, we trapped 8 over there at the park, but two of them were already fixed.  But...five males and a female got fixed.  That's something And I got to watch Deadliest Catch!   The man drama on that show is extreme! And I took a mountain climb on Portland steep streets.

I is for Intense!

    1. Are there places in Pittsburg that way? The sidewalk I found, to cut back up to the street I had walked down, was unbelievably steep, like greater than a 30 degree incline. I was huffing and puffing but trying not to show it, because if you live and walk in such an area, you get in shape and used to that.

Portland seems to have plenty of greenery. Seems you made good use of your idle time by exploring.

    1. Yes, lots of green. I've not explored it thoroughly, just when the weather is not too wet on cat trips.

    1. Thanks McGuffy. I am trying to follow you, but I'm not a google member, because of a couple google accounts that get terribly mixed up. Is there another way to follow you?
