This, That and the Other

Been in haze lately.  Too much drear in dear Oregon.

Rain, gray, drizzle, ick.

Someone should get on that, fix it.

I was so ready last summer for global warming to hit Oregon.  Nice and hot all summer, month after month.  I was smiling inside but I had to scowl outwardly in some circles.  "The Sky is Falling" circles.  "We're killing future generations" circles.  I have no kids, a.k.a. no future guilt.  I kept my heat happiness to myself.  It wasn't PC,  Happiness in general is frowned upon.

Miss Daisy is doing so well.  I stumbled upon something that might work, in an old moldy convolution of my brain.  I once had this cat who got repeated urinary infections.  Vet said it was stress and inflammation of her bladder, breed related.  He prescribed an old cheap antidepressant, said for some reason, it de inflames in cats.   It worked for her.  I told a vet here about that and asked if we could try it on Miss Daisy.  She agreed.  Why not.

It has worked like a charm.  Not only is she no longer over grooming, but she no longer is having bouts of loose stool.  I hope this continues!  The transformation is amazing!

Hoping to have a solution soon to the farm colony cat feeding issue without relocating them, which often results in their demise and nightmares for me.

We have it all planned out, but will see if it goes through.   Time will tell and for now I will still feed them.

I am hopeful.

I have been watching lots of Youtube videos on shoe making.  I am a big fan of one older woman who skillfully crafts shoes without using lasts. Granted, she's not making shoes for herself and uses the feet of the person who will get the shoes, as a "living last", along with play dough to fill in across the person's feet for the shape of the shoe wanted.  I love her!

She has nifty tools, like a little cutting tool, on a roller, an awl, a skiving tool, for shaving down the edges of leather, and a three hole rectangular punch for extremely neat looking stitch holes.  She has tool that's a little longer on one side she puts against the shoe piece edge, setting a distance for the other side of the tool, that then smoothly marks a stitch line.

She very clearly shows different stitches too.  She is talented and classy.

Big storm coming through I hear.  Really?  Wow.  More rain, that's something new.  Not.

    2. The pills are extremely affordable and after tonight, she goes to every other day on them, then every 3rd day.

I really hope someone does something about your weather. Someone should do something. Barack hasn't even fixed your weather.

Drugs are good, even for cats.

We used to see metal shoe lasts in op shops/thrift stores for a $1. Are they not around anymore? Would you like me to send you some possum skins to make nice warm boots? Plenty of possums in our local park.

    1. I'll pass on the possum skins for now Andrew although I can sense your eagerness to help in this manner. No need to sacrifice your local possums for my feet. After all, we do have wood up here in Oregon and I hear wooden shoes, if lined, don't rub a person's feet raw too badly. Obama did not include weather fixes in Obamacare, much to my dismay, as it is well known the benefits of Vitamin D on one's health.

  4. Hope Ms Daisy continues to do so well. By the way, a man in my hometown used to make sandals out of recycled automobile tires. But they weren't very flexible and had no arch support at all. He seldom wore shoes... went barefoot most of the year... but he did sell those sandals at a reasonable price. I think I still have a pair in storage in Ohio ....

    1. I tried that once, but have no tool that will cut those steel belts now in every darn tire.

  5. Isn't great what we can find on Youtube these days? I expect that soon you will be showing us the first pair of shoes you've made. Good luck.
