I got shocked with the bill for that kitten today, who didn't make it. He was a crypt. I should have asked how much they would charge to open him up and search for that lost testicle. I didn't. I figured it needed done.
But then they found blood in his abdomin and mouth injuries, too. They concluded he might have been hit by a car. But, after talking to the colony caretaker, she said a cat had fallen off the top shelf in the garage, a couple days ago, and hit a bucket on the floor. She figured that would hurt a cat, but the cat ran off. It was the little black kitten.
So, the kitten was euthanized, because of the internal injuries he sustained in the fall. I didn't even think about the bill today at all. When I went to pick up the seven cats tonight, I was shocked to see the bill was $125 just for what went on with the kitten. For a little kitten I just intended to get neutered. Poppa doesn't pay for these costs, just for neutering. I had to hand them my debit card. A good share of my money for the month just went to dead kitten. I wasn't happy.
When I returned the two living kittens and the deceased to the caretaker I was still not happy. She was talking about how she couldn't afford to buy cat food for all these cats anymore. I have told her repeatedly to go get food at SafeHaven. They get shitloads donated at Christmas. I get zero cat food donated to me. She says she doesn't like to ask for help. It doesn't bother her to ask me for help, however. I wasn't happy again.
When I was picking up those cats, and tried to open the back hatch door of my car, the back hatch lever broke off again. I was not happy. A bit over a year ago, some asshole on College Park Drive broke that off trying to break into my car, when I was returning cats I'd gotten fixed (probably the asshole theif's cat) to that drug infested complex there. It was hanging from the electric cord, that lever, when I came back out. I tried taping it on for awhile.
Then I called Toyota to see what a new little plastic crap part would cost, and it was like over $200, just for that little 8 inch by two inch piece of plastic, with four weak plastic parts on the back that fit into weak plastic counterparts on the back door itself, snapping into place. That lever is a Scion flaw. Big time.
The arms of the back door do not raise the back hatch up automatically, once the electronic lock is released by squeezing the lever on that latch handle. There's no other way to pull it open, but to use that cheap plastic crap latch lever, that isn't built tough at all, and will break off.
Anyhow, since all the little plastic pieces that stuck out, to match with pieces they'd clip into or nest in on the hatch door, were broken off, I manufactured various parts and glued them on, so there'd be something to glue together to hold it on. The first one of those clips broke a month ago.
When in Portland, I showed my brother how that one on the end was broken off, but there were still three holding. He couldn't help himself, for some reason, and pulled on it, I guess to peak to see how it was held on, breaking two more. So it was then hanging on by only one clip. That one let go tonight, unable to bear the torque alone.
Wouldn't help, really, to get another $200 piece of plastic crap and replace it. Would just break again. Fatal flaw in the Scion rear hatch door. Like the windshield of the Scion---way too big, a rock magnet.
Mine is broken top to bottom. Some asshole gravel truck towing a dirty trailer with a dirty backhoe atop it had rocks flying off it on I5. I was driving up taking some kittens to be fixed when I was struck by two rocks flying off that gravel truck or its trailer. Those fucking rock trucks should be required to clean their rigs before hitting the road, because they're causing people pain and suffering and money.
Like they care.
Those two rocks struck my windshield so hard I thought I'd been shot at. I tried in vain then to catch the speeding gravel truck. I got almost to him, but his rear license plate was so filthy it couldn't be read, then he took a McMinnville exit and I had no chance of getting paid for what his dirty load was going to cost me.
I have only liability insurance. I have to replace the windshield soon. It's starting to leak. I don't know what that is going to cost. Hundreds of dollars I'd guess. I just don't know. I had it replaced once before.
I had travelled to the coast. The forecast had called for snow, but instead, the coast range got only a light dusting.
But the stupid county went out and pea gravelled the highway anyhow. Some asshole flew by me in a pickup at about 80 mph shooting gravel up at me from his asshole small penis huge tires, peppering my windshield. It got chipped and broken in about five places.
I had full coverage then, however, and the windshield was replaced for nothing. Now I got only liability insurance and I don't have hundreds of dollars to replace that windshield.
That's why I hate gravel trucks now and gravel truck companies because they don't clean those trucks off and clean out their tires, before they hit the road, and they're costing people lots of money. Little people like me. And they don't give a shit.
Anyhow, it's not been an easy couple of weeks. Too many deaths. I don't like a little kitten dying like that. As for that cost, well the vet can charge what he wants, I know. But I ain't happy with holes in my pocket so early in this month.
I am a Cat Woman. My self-appointed mission in life is to save the feline world! To accomplish this mission, I get cats fixed. Perhaps my mission might be slightly delusional. This blog is a mishmash of wishful thinking, rants, experiences as I remember them and of course, cat stories and cat photos. I have a nonprofit now, to help keep the cats here cared for and to fix community cats. Happy Cat Club formed in 2015. Currently, we are on a mission to fix 10,000 cats.

Have you considered asking for pay pal donations on you blog to cover the costs you incure for caring of animals. I know that as you are not a NPO, you would have to claim it as income, but you can claim it as hobby income and as your expenses are likely to outstrip any donations you get, you would not have to pay taxes on it.
