Got four more cats fixed today. Two were from a long standing Albany colony. The caretaker of the colony trapped them herself. Both were females. The other two were the final two from the Millersburg colony, one a female, in heat no less, the other a male. So that one is done.
I've been trying to trap the latest calico down on the highway. No luck, but I saw her close up. She's there sometimes, but lots of times isn't and I believe these are overflows from some Tangent residence or warehouse, where the cats are not fixed. If I don't locate the source problem, it'll just continue. tonight I pulled the trap. I'm exhausted.
Last night, someone said they'd come by just after 10:00 to take me down there, to check the trap. It's so much easier to be dropped off, because otherwise, I have to park a million miles away and walk it. So she didn't actually arrive until midnight. Wasn't her fault because the event they were attending lasted a lot longer than she thought.
But I wasn't happy, waiting up so long like that. I wanted to go to bed. I had to be up by 5:30 to check it in the morning then take cats, including hers up to be fixed. She was also supposed to be bringing by the cats she'd trapped, so I was also waiting on her for that.
Later I figured I should have just gone myself to check the trap then gone to bed on time. Losing sleep at my age doesn't do me well. I get cranky, out of sorts and just sleep deprived. Tonight, she said she'd be home to pick up her cats when I got home with them from being fixed. But when I called, she wanted me to wait an hour, until she and her live in got done eating. She said she'd take me down to check the trap again when she came for her cats. And i wanted to go to bed, to make up sleep from the night before's wait.
So finally she comes and her live in is with her and he says he doesn't want to go with us, the five miles round trip to check that trap, that he wants to take the two cats, go home, then she'd come back. I've already waited an hour and a half. Last night, I waited on them until after midnight. So I told her and her friend, the guy, who puts on a glove to even transfer a trap from my car to hers, to forget it, that I wasn't waiting anymore.
The woman was apologetic, said she wanted to drive me down and she'd only be a few more minutes taking him back to her place. Well then she shouldn't have shown up in the first place with some whiney guy. So fuck it. I'm not into being the punching bag anymore for people who want to use me, want me to smile and nod and wait on them forever, over and over.
So I went down and the trap was empty but the food on the plate outside had been eaten. I call it a marker plate. I place a tiny amount of food on a plate somewhere or by a trap, to see if something is in the area. In this case, it was a rat. I found the feces, so the cat isn't frequenting that area at all where I had it set. So I pulled it, left some food elsewhere, where she has been seen and that's all I can do until I find out where these cats are coming from.
I have two nearby sources in mind, places I know they've had cats, including one farm nearby, where they would only allow me to fix the males, claiming their cats are so often hit on the road or mangled by windrowers, that they need the females to breed.
Only, they don't feed them at all, not the females, because they consider the females the decent hunters and figure if they feed them they won't hunt. This is a commonly held myth and totally wrong.
If you fix the cats, they'll be better hunters and not be as likely to be hit on the road. And, if you feed them, they'll be better hunters because they will be nourished and not starving to death.
Hunting is natural for a cat. Just because you feed them, they're not going to stop hunting. Feeding them makes them stronger, and thus, better hunters. All sorts of crap myths floating out there in the rurals. No common sense at all to a lot of the myths out there.
Another option is a kind of AAAAAA personality woman who lives in Tangent. I got some cats fixed for her a couple years ago or so, but never caught the last one, because she wouldn't let me be on the property without her there, and, she'd never be there when she'd tell me to come over at a certain time to catch that last cat which wasted so much of my time and is very disrespectful behavior. This is also the woman responsible for the Olsen colony. I found that out by chance, talking to her once.
She'd had a husband or relative dump a pregnant orange female out on Seven Mile. Well, that's exactly how the orange Olsen colony began, when that pregnant orange showed at that poor old womans. So I don't have a real fondness in my heart for this ultra high tension ultra Christian woman of Tangent at all. There isn't any way in the world I'd talk to that person again.
She had also offered to take in two cats from the business center. At that time, because she was a landlord and owned all this property and a self-proclaimed lover of the Lord, I believed her, which cost two lives. At that time, I was still cowed by people of money or power and still wanted to believe people's words. Actions are what count, not words.
I told her to house them a week or two, set them up in a relocation cage, and she let them out almost immediately. One was hit on 99E, the other on highway 34, when trying to make her way home. I found both of their bodies, at least, and I wanted to hang that lying Christian woman out to dry.
I can't even solve Albany's cat problem. I'm worn out and so lonely. But then, whats' the point of trying to find human contact. I'm so broken still from all those decades of abuse and crap, I will never be able to find normal human contact, because I'm not normal. I've lived isolated for too many decades. I have to accept this.
I am a Cat Woman. My self-appointed mission in life is to save the feline world! To accomplish this mission, I get cats fixed. Perhaps my mission might be slightly delusional. This blog is a mishmash of wishful thinking, rants, experiences as I remember them and of course, cat stories and cat photos. I have a nonprofit now, to help keep the cats here cared for and to fix community cats. Happy Cat Club formed in 2015. Currently, we are on a mission to fix 10,000 cats.

You are right. I am very well fed and I hunt all the time because I like to. I share my kills with my human because I want her to be well fed too.
