Micah and Spidy got a home together this evening with a local family who also have two other cats. It's a great home for the boys. The couple came to see Little Miss Sunshine but were taken by the outgoing natures and extreme playfulness of brothers Micah and Spidy. Micah could have gone alone to a home in Eugene next week, right after his neuter, but it's always better if brothers can stay together. I'll be picking Micah up from the local family for his neuter directly from his new home instead. I'm hoping the Eugene women will be interested instead in Aces.
Pixie and Shady left together also yesterday. That too was a great home, with a great family. Right before they came, someone had e-mailed whom I hadn't heard from in awhile. She had once expressed interest in Pixie, but then I never heard back from her and figured they'd gotten a kitten elsewhere. In the e-mail, she said they did want Pixie, but later, when she was older. It was moments later that this family entered and wanted to take both Pixie and Shady and I said fine. I didn't know if the other woman would indeed take her, and it is great when cousins, and Pixie and Shady are cousins, could get a home together.
Alexi and Machi left last week.
I am looking for a way to better socialize Mooki, Meeko and Purrly to new people. They're great older kittens, who sleep with me and seek me out to be petted, but spook somewhat to new people. Wouldn't take much, maybe a couple people coming in here every day for a week, to play with them and hold them. I'm looking for people to do just that, so these cats can have a chance at homes, too.
It's been a good couple of days, with the four adoptions. This was made possible by a Corvallis woman who offered to pay for an ad. This has worked out wonderfully. The upside is, the local couple who adopted the boys may want to get involved and volunteer.
The downside is, I miss the wild kitten play parties we've been having every night.
The former feral kittens, Berry and Breezy, from NW Corvallis, are perking up and starting to come out of their shells now. Berry is now neutered. I hope to get Breezy fixed very soon.
I am a Cat Woman. My self-appointed mission in life is to save the feline world! To accomplish this mission, I get cats fixed. Perhaps my mission might be slightly delusional. This blog is a mishmash of wishful thinking, rants, experiences as I remember them and of course, cat stories and cat photos. I have a nonprofit now, to help keep the cats here cared for and to fix community cats. Happy Cat Club formed in 2015. Currently, we are on a mission to fix 10,000 cats.
