Salvation Just in Time for Siamese Brothers

The Lynx Point Siamese from Freeway Lakes was a male, not a female, but not quite a "right" male. He was a crypt orchid, with one non descended testicle lodged up near his rib cage. The vet today had to really hunt for that thing.

Tonight, he lay recovering from surgery, dozing off and on, in my lap. He is so skinny. These four Siamese brothers went through hell together. Whenever this skinny male hears my cats meow, he raises his head and meows back then tries to crawl towards the sound. I know he is hoping its one of his brothers. I know he's very worried about them. All three are over in Sweet Home now, after their neuters, with KAT, but they're going to bring one back over, so he can be reassured they too are just fine now.

The brothers were dumped like so much trash about two months ago, or more. The suffering began in earnest. They had no food source there and were too little at that time to hunt mice. As they grew older, weaker and thinner, they were unable to hunt mice from weakness and from congenital inbred Siamese cross eyedness.

So they begged, discreetly, because hunger makes one paranoid, from anyone who stopped by the lakes. They ate trash, bugs, even dirt and grass, trying to hold on for a miracle. They got their miracle.

Fishermen began arriving at the lake, and tossing them bits of their lunches or bringing them tuna. A woman fisherman went and bought a big bag of cat food now and then and dumped it in the woods, probably not knowing free roaming dogs and raccoons ate it all, in one fell swoop, each time she did that, so the cats got only one meal out of each bag she dumped.

But, she also called KAT adoption, wanting help for these boys. KAT called me.

Now the brothers are safe and will begin to heal, mentally and physically. It will take time for them to gain to normal wieght. Every bone protrudes. That will change, too.

  1. Dear Strayer, we're happy that the siamese guys are in better hands now. Hope they find a good new home.

  2. Sometimes things do work out.

We all hope who ever adopts out these boys manages to keep them together, at least two and two, if not all four to one place.
