Fox on the Tracks

When driving west on Circle from Highway 20, I just happened to glance left, over to the west of HP, on the tracks that run between HP's campus and the back of Carmike theater, and saw a red fox. So I pulled quickly into a parking lot and followed the skrawny canine on foot.

He was way underweight, which is probably what prompted the daylight hunting. A lot of area around there is now developed, area where such predators as foxes used to hunt mice and rabbits. Anyhow, I followed him for awhile, sometimes getting as close as 20 feet from him, as he would briefly stop to cock his ears and crouch, as if he thought he heard a mouse in the ditch. He'd wait, but only a few seconds, then move on.

I took a couple photos also of trash dumped along the back of those parking lots, nice and private for night time illegal dumping---a couch someone threw off the back of a truck probably and some old chairs. The couch is right by the tracks.

I had a slow day. My back is killing me, on my left side again, maybe from doing all the projects yesterday, maybe from sleeping on the couch until the bedroom dries. I did return the Oak St. male. I did go check out the Clover Ridge Dr. situation and caught so far one young torti. Sure enough, she's tame.

And sure enough, the situation is complicated by the fact she is nearly starved to death too, because she was abandoned when the woman, someone named Myrna who worked at the Darimart on the corner there, moved out after selling the house. So they haven't had food for quite some time. The new owners are just moving in today. This Myrna was supposed to take her cats with her. She left them, like any true blue Albany resident would. Just being sarcastic.

The cats' left eye is clouded from a corneal ulcer, likely herpes caused. Isn't that the shits? This cat will need prolonged fostering before she can be adopted, because of her run down condition, and she'll need meds and tested for FIV/Felk. Do you know how expensive all these things are? All because someone named Myrna decided not to get her cats fixed, then, when she sold her house, she just left them all behind.

Myrna, wherever you are, your cats have suffered horribly since you left them behind like trash. And now, someone else is taking up the slack, taking on the financial burden of getting the cats you abandoned well again, since they're starving and sick.

I don't even know you, have never met you and I want to cold cock ya.

A video made about the Green Peter reservoir drawdown.  Will it help at all?   I don't know.
