Nine More

Beside the 15 trapped Thursday morning, and the 14 caught that night, I went back Friday evening to pick up 9 more at the colony in Lebanon.  These were teenagers he'd tamed and could pick up and his daughter helped get them loaded into traps to be fixed.

The first 15 included three kittens, that Keithas Kitties took in.  The 14 trapped Thursday evening included 5 kittens, whom I stored in the bathroom.  So with 30 spots, since 8 were kittens too little to go, I could take 9 of the ones he'd tamed down.

Those are the 9 who went back to him to recuperate last night.  Along with those nine, two adults were returned to him.  One was the Siamese female, who turned out to be heavily lactating.  And one of the tabbies (there were tons of tabbies), who turned out to be already fixed.

He had marked the traps containing two tabbies, wanting them back for sure, not to go to barn homes.   The fixed female was one of them.   He couldn't tell which tabby was the one he likes a lot but doesn't think its her, the fixed one.  So I told him all the tabbies would return since I have no idea which is which.  They all look alike, to be honest.

She's not the only one someone else has fixed there.  Two of the cats i saw on game cam have left eartips.  Who is getting some of them fixed?  No idea.   All of the cats were trapped inside his garage.  But they can come and go.   Its a good thing someone is helping out, that's for sure.   I turned one of the left eartipped cats loose after catching her, not willing to waste a spot on a cat that is fixed, but I suppose one at least needs checked to be sure they actually are fixed.   That will have to wait.

In all now, 45 cats have been helped there in a very short time.  I first got four fixed at radpets, the private clinic.  Then the 30 I took yesterday.   And also have removed 11 kittens.  Three of those went to an employee of radpets, but one of them died of something.   3 more went to Keitha's Kitties, and I have five in the bathroom.  But two of those are leaving today.   Will be down to 3 to find a rescue to take.

Five of the adults won't go back either, as Silverton Cat Rescue barn team has two barns for those five.  Thee two young tortis are going to one of them.  Three others of my choosing (no tabbies) will go to the other.

There's a yearling gray I caught whom I saw on game cam with a young black tux several times.  Pals.  They'll be two of the ones for the three cat barn home.  I just need to choose a 3rd to go with them.  The three are leaving Monday, and probably the tortis also.  So at least five of the adults will not return.

I'm sure he wishes it were more, but five adults and 11 kittens reduces his numbers drastically very fast.

Here are photos of the 9 he and his daughter rounded up and who were also fixed yesterday.  He claims he'll find them homes now, but will he?   They're cute and sweet and now vaccinated and fixed and flea treated.

I know, the photos are terrible, was tired out Friday night, and camera lens dirty to boot.

Anyhow, lots of tabbies for sure.

The adults were also a lot of tabbies.   With some grays, gray tuxes, tortis, blacks and black and whites thrown in.

There were more I wanted to catch in the garage.  I don't know how many more and they will be very hard to catch now with all the other fixed ones back too.

I get home exhausted and there are people messaging me, why did you help him, not me, etc.   I didn't respond to that.  Some folks have no boundaries, and will know I'm exhausted, that I'm old too, but can't stop themselves from expecting more from me for them.

I also saw a post on facebook about a cat someone wants to find a home for.  Eartipped.  Orange and white.  Knew him immediately as one sort of owned by the Lebanon woman who also feeds along rural roads and doesn't help get them fixed.   The lady posting about the cat lives across an extremely busy very dangerous street from the lady I got him fixed for.   This boy posted about has roamed that area for who knows how long, one of the LEbanon discarded by someone, and at least he's fixed and vaccinated and fed now, and can have shelter if he wants it.   He's been lucky, as far as cats in Lebanon.

  1. It's great they've found so many barn homes for so many of the cats. Much better than those colonies. Is there a way to block those that complain about you "not helping" them. I imagine they're not doing much on their end, so not worth the effort.

    1. Way better for them. My car was red in flea dirt. Poor kitties. Getting some gone from there is a huge blessing for the ones who get to go, even though they don't know it yet. I just ignore the people who want so much from me for nothing constantly.
