Five Rural Lebanon Cats Fixed

Five more cats were fixed today at the Corvallis private clinic.  Fortunately their caregiver paid over half the cost.  Four of the five were girls, three of whom were pregnant.

The fifth was one of the boys. There are a few more boys out there to catch and get fixed.

This is the colony where the dog was chasing cats when I arrived to check it out the day before.

There has been no further sign of that dog.

I arrived at 4:30 last night and was done by 5:30.  Sooner actually but she'd offered me hot chocolate so I stayed to drink a cup.

Because the boys wanted in the traps and I needed to catch the girls, to prevent an explosion in population there, I used a water bottle to prop up traps, with a cord tied around its neck and yanked it out when a female was in the trap eating.  This was quick and easy and resulted in catching all four girls.

I'll return them in the morning.   Unfortunately another Sweet Home cat, who was caught and being housed til she could be fixed, escaped whatever they had her housed in this morning.  So now they're trying to recatch her.  She was to be fixed tomorrow.  Now, not so sure that will happen.

This is Danub, the one boy of the five I took in today.

Jane, a girl

Madonna, another young girl

Mamason, a girl, and probably the mom of the younger ones

Susie Q, another girl, and the sweetest little thing
I'll get the remaining boys done as soon as possible.

Halted the expansion of the colony at least for now.

I began thinking of the long list of grocery items about to get a lot more expensive, including coffee, due to all the tariffs slapped on goods from so many countries yesterday.   I thought I should have bought up a bunch of coffee at least, which keeps, before yesterday.

  3. I'm glad that you're dealing with a nice person this time. That doesn't always happen.

    1. It was a pleasant experience all around, but there are more out there, so I'll be going back.

  4. I shudder to think how many more cats would have been in the colony if all of those females had their litters.

  5. I think it might not be too late to get coffee. I thought it would take some time before the prices go up (as in, when they need to restock).

Can they fix cats that are pregnant? I guess kitten season is fully underway.

    1. Yeah I think you are right. It will take some time as many companies have anticipated this and stockpiled in warehouses. So I do have time to stock up.

    2. Yes, they do fix pregnant cats. Abortion. Still not banned in cats at least. Good thing or we'd be in big trouble. Most of the time you can't even tell when ferals are pregnant , not til the last. I only knew one of the four girls done yesterday was pregnant before they went in. The other three all looked skinny so must not have been very pregnant.

  6. Good job! Yes, I think everything is getting ready to jump up even further in price. Things are already too expensive.

    1. Yes things are too expensive now. Two days ago I saw the price of gas had jumped up about 20 cents a gallon. Then yesterday I heard the price of a barrel of oil had crashed so I thought "awesome, gas will be down today." Instead, its jumped up another 10 cents a gallon wtf!!!!!!! I think we're getting price gouged over all the uncertainty in regards to gas.

  7. I suppose most of your coffee would come from South America, with the larger only receiving a 10% tariff. It would still mean a rise in coffee prices.

    1. Yes, most comes from S. America---Columbia, Venezuala, Brazil, etc. I think most of those countries only have 10%? I haven't looked. It's kind of embarrassing all around, that he would self inflict this on Americans and the world. It's all self destructive, it didn't have to be.

    1. Thanks Darla. Allegedly I'm taking 15 or so Wednesday to be fixed but today, the colony folks are not responding, which seems odd, given its only two days left before the trip with their cats.

We had sun yesterday.  We are supposed to also get sun today.  Tomorrow--back to rain. I did a lot of cat juggling yesterday, running aroun...
