Interesting Weather Afloat

Update:  It's after 7:00 p.m. now and we've had nothing, nada except a few splatters of rain.  Bust!

I don't watch news anymore, so imagine my surprise when someone warned me about severe thunderstorms forecast for later today.

Here?

We get thunderstorms.  Many of us love them.  But severe?  Not so much.

Severe rain---we have that in bucket loads.

Dutifully I checked the web about this rumor.   It's true, although the weather people seem confused about this possible dangerous forecast that could include tornados and very large hail.  Accuweather says our first thunderstorm could be in just a couple of hours. Seriously?

Here?  For real?

Right now, its 67 degrees and sunny out.   Like yesterday and the day before.  Too beautiful for words. I felt accomplished to get my front lawn mowed on Monday, even with the sleep deprivation involved in caring for seven extra cats.  Was just one night with the seven extras but it wears me down a bit.  It's supposed to drop 20 degrees tomorrow and rain the next five days to two weeks.  Great, more rain, just what we DON'T need.

Well I'll post up tomorrow about the severe and dangerous weather event.  We don't have storm cellars around here because we don't get severe weather like tornadoes.  We are grateful that we don't experience them here.  But will we today? News advises safety first. What, no storm watching?

  1. I saw on the news this morning that your area could have severe weather today. Let's hope it doesn't materialize.

    1. Well I do love a thunderstorm, just not severe ones that spawn huge hail and tornadoes.

  2. I hope you don't get extreme weather. And still envy your rain.

    1. We could spare rain at this point, EC. Its raining already here, with wind.

  3. I'm happy that you were able to get the front lawn mowed before the rain comes in.

    1. The grow back overnight time of year is here. One can, just by watching a front lawn in the spring, understand how fast brush and undergrowth in forests grows back.

  4. It would be nice if the forecast could be a bit more accurate. Do you have a government funded weather bureau?

    1. Ha! Funny you should ask NOAA has been severely cut by you know who--our president. So we're a bit short changed on the national front with local forecast info. But we still have the European model weather forecasts to rely on. And to some extent, NOAA, but its been hogtied, probably because they dare mention climate change. A big nono now here.

  5. Yes, I heard about your possible severe weather. When I heard your area mentioned, I hoped you were safe. Our weather has been wild as well (although not that wild). Two days ago we were in the 80s, and today we didn't see the sun all day.

    1. We never had any thunderstorms in our area at all. Today we had some high wind gusts and more rain, which will continue for the next week I guess. 80's, I'm jealous. I so long for summer. Back in the 50's for awhile now. no end to the rain in sight yet.

  6. We should be getting a storm either Thursday or Friday. I limited my news watching.

  8. We've spent many evenings downstairs due to tornado threats. I'm fortunate to never have experienced one. Stay safe, my dear.

    1. Good news that one has never hit you there. Our severe storms never happened.

What a great night out I had.  Nothing wild or crazy. My neighbor invited me, said there was going to be a Beatles Tribute band at a local ...
