The end of the cold spell is near. I am told by various weather apps the temps could rise above freezing by 11 or 12 tonight, in fact.
I spent the day in bed, to stay warm. Even with space heaters going, mid 50's is best I can achieve. While that is not that cold, after awhile it seems colder than it is I suppose.
Freezing rain began about 2:00 p.m. here and still is sputtering outside. But once the temp is above 32 it should all melt, right?
Icicles hang from everywhere outside.
If the cat yard overtop wire doesn't collapse from the ice weight before the thaw, nor that tree behind it, which is in the neighbors yard, all will be good when I wake up tomorrow. I have not been out of the house except to do the outside chores since Friday. I don't feel any sort of cabin fever. I've rather enjoyed a lot of napping. If the furnace was working, I think I could remain this way for a good long time. But alas, it's not working and the bill for running space heaters is probably going to give me a heart attack.
You undoubtedly were overdue a rest.
ReplyDeleteI am still hoping the furnace can be repaired and quickly.
It's way above freezing now, but the driveway is still a skating rink, strangely. It's not slush yet. My Lebanon friend said her driveway is now slush that her feet sink into so she's headed to feed the park cats.
DeleteI'll be glad to see it go! In answer to your questions--- the walkway is a simple boardwalk through the wetlands near a state park. It's all on one level, but I can see that the perspective might trick the brain a bit. Thanks for your comment.
ReplyDeleteI think we will all be glad to see it go. Ok, boardwoalk, one level. I don't know why I saw it as two level. I'll look again.
Deletewell when I look at your photo again, with my glasses, I do not see two levels and wonder how I thought that in the first place.
DeleteThat is cold- both inside and out! Hope the cold snap ends soon. We're at 10 degrees this morning, but our heater is working. How are the cats in the garage?
ReplyDeleteWell I don't have cats in the actual garage. The 2nd bay of the garage is a room the cats can access, through runs, both from the kitchen, that travel through the garage to that room, or from the cat yard, from which they can also access the house from a run that goes under the eaves. I have a space heater in the cat room off the cat yard, so that was actually the warmest room of anywhere in the house. The house has an open layout and is difficult to heat with space heaters. So I had one going in my bedroom that does have a door with the door only cracked and a blanket hung over it. So inside the house, my bedroom was the warmest place.
DeleteThis is not a good time for the furnace to be out. I hope that, at least, can get fixed sooner rather than later. Stay warm.
ReplyDeleteMy brother has a call in to the hvac company he uses. Yesterday I5 was a mess and they come from the south, so there was no travel to be done safely coming north. They probably have a backlog of calls and my brother will let me know when they're coming.
