I don't really mind staying in, with the cold outside.
Now the forecast is for freezing rain Tuesday but then back to normal on Wednesday. I can deal with that.
I believe the Salem spay neuter clinic will be closed tomorrow, but I've received no official notification that it will be.
I lined up five "easy" cats, for my cancellation spots, in case I could get to Sweet Home, to get them late today, if things improve and if I'm sure the clinic will actually be open tomorrow, which I'm not. The roads are icy so I really do not want to make a trip to Sweet Home or even spend an hour de icing my car.
It will remain in the low 20's today here so the car will not de ice itself.
The house temp is in mid 50's, which is fine and I will not resort to the space heater if I can help it. I can see in my mind's eye the horrific number on the electric bill, is the reason.
It was scary bad enough last month.
And rates have gone up now I believe, for January.
SS does not even go up each year enough to cover the increases in the electric bill.
Everything is frozen this morning and will probably stay that way.
It definitely looks chilly. Stay warm, stay safe.
ReplyDeleteWe won't get our gas bill until next month. I know we used more gas to heat. Since it been cold in North Idaho. We did get energy assistant. Which helps.
ReplyDeleteI will need to try to get some energy assistance. My brother is sending the HVAC people. He says my bill is too high because the heat pump/furnace aren't working right.
DeleteDefinitely don't make the trip if the clinic won't be open. I assume with your weather event it won't be. Sending you warm thoughts.
ReplyDeleteClinic contacted me they'll be closed. I was happy, relieved.
DeleteI hope the HVAC people come sooner rather than later. I know several people who keep their house in the 50s during the winter because of heating costs, but I am lucky that I don't have to do that. We keep our house in the mid-60s which I find cold enough.
ReplyDeleteIt's mid 50's in here, even with the furnace off and the temp 21 degrees outside and no space heater going. The furnace's failure to function is scaring me, over electrical concerns, so I just turned it off.
DeleteOh, I hope you stay safe and warm.
