On the Road Again

Catmobile is on the road again, with four working spark plugs.   Not that it didn't run rather nicely with two working spark plugs.  But I wanted to change all four.  Except the last two were stuck.

Not really stuck, just I had a very lousy spark plug wrench that allowed for no leverage.

This morning, a man called about a male cat showing up, yowling at his long fixed girl cats.   I mentioned my car in the conversation.   I'd gotten a colony fixed next to these folks a few years back.  Anyhow, he works on his own cars, has never taken a car to a mechanic he said, in his life.

He said bring it on over, he could free up those stuck plugs.  So I did and he had the right tools and easily got them out and the two new ones in.  Minutes it took.  Made me happy.  The last two plugs were just as bad if not worse than the first two I'd changed already.   I seriously have no idea how that car was running at all.   Aaron looked at it and said "because its a toyota, they're beasts."  That they are.

I drove it home happy as a clam to be back in the saddle again.  Mollusks and equines in one bad metaphor.

I had Christmas dinner tonight with my neighbors.   Ha!  Bet you didn't expect to read that.   It was lovely.

    1. Everything sometimes works out in the end. I'm sure there are more misadventures ahead maybe sooner than later, for me and my car. We've both got some dents scrapes and misfires.

  2. In my youth, we had to change them every 3 thousand miles or so. I'm glad you got them done. It's not safe to drive a car that could quit on you at any time.

    1. Every 3000 miles, wow. I'm not sure what the guidelines are now. It's only been about three years since they were changed out. And I barely drove in the two pandemic years.

  3. Didn't see either one of those coming - help with your car and dinner with your neighbors. You meet a lot of really screwed up people, so it's nice when you meet some decent ones every once in a while.

  6. Kudos to you for knowing how to change your plugs. Stuck plugs can be a real challenge. Glad your friend helped you out!

    1. It was really wonderful to find someone willing to loosen them. He had lots of sockets and extenders to get the leverage needed and they really were not very tight with some good leverage.

  7. I'm glad your car is working again. It's amazing it worked at all if the spark plugs were so bad. Now, you have to explain how the Christmas dinner finally came to pass.

    1. That car is awesome, despite its high miles. I talk to people, who also have oft failing cars and we all see a need for a low end car on the market, simple design, small easy engine, no bells or whistles, so they're cheap to buy, easy to repair....no massive computer controls, complicating everything. There is a market for such a car. A very basic lightweight simple car. Like mine is!

    2. As for the Christmas dinner, they suddenly texted me they were having Christmas dinner and could I come. I said yes, knowing it may or may not happen but it did this time around.
