Shady when she was much younger, with Brambles, who died some time ago |
The Lebanon lady who lost the cat she took home from the park has never found him.
She won't name her cats and lets them free roam. She said the neighbor on one side of her told her they're moving to the coast and partly because of her cats in their yard and pooping in their yard constantly. Still, she won't contain them. She won't stop feeding raccoons either, although she says she's feeding her cats outside and doesn't intentionally feed the raccoons. I told her how to make it so raccoons can't get the cat food but she doesn't listen to anything I say. It is what it is.
When Tipper went missing she had to ask me what she'd named him, for the neuter records, so I told her. Then, when someone thought they saw him, a couple blocks from her place, she loudly called his name on that block several times a day until a couple neighbors complained. Why would she call a cats name she'd never called him before and think he'd come, if he was near? I don't know. It's frustrating and sad to think about.
Anyhow, poor Tipper, only had a home for about five months. I hope she doesn't bring any more to her place.
It's wet and icky out and I have no motivation. I have a lot of cat chores daily that keep me busy, and gas prices are so high, I only leave the house when forced to go buy food now, or to trap if I have some appointments.
Right now I'm drying apple slices in the oven, which is a slow process. I sprinkled them with cinnamon. The apples are from my ever giving tiny tree out front. They're absolutely delicious. I eat one or two every day, plus dry the slices. A friend made applesauce from a couple buckets of them she took and brought me three jars of that. I don't have canning supplies and almost no freezer space so drying them is the only way to save them any length of time. That apple tree has provided me so much food on the years it produces. The $5 investment to buy it years ago has multiplied. The pop up nursery sold it so cheap because its main trunk, tiny at the time, was split and crooked. Ha, I didn't care. My gain.
Late afternoon, I'll start my petsitting gig along with some relaxing TV over there. I only have to go four times but I do look forward to it.
Tonight I remove the food from the bathroom teens, and early morning tomorrow, get up and contain the four going to be fixed in live traps. The transporting ladies will probably get here around 6:30 a.m. to pick them up. The already fixed girl will remain in the bathroom with the extremely patient Skippy and Sprite. Poor S and S. They had been free roaming the house during the day prior to the coming of the teens, which required a closed bathroom door. They'll live through it and by Friday, all five Lebanon teens will return to the complex. I have nowhere they can go. They're almost 4 months old and taming a cat that old is a tough sell. They're older than Skippy and Sprite.
Those apples sound delicious. Cinnamon is a comfort smell for me.
ReplyDeleteA big sigh at the Lebanon lady (and all the too many who are just like her).
Happy petsitting.
There really is something comforting about cinnamon.
DeleteYou sound busy. Sorry the weather has turned gloomy.
ReplyDeleteWe might get a three day rain break this weekend.
DeleteSome people do seem determined to remain ignorant.
ReplyDeleteThe apple slices with cinnamon sound very nice.
I have to forget about things I can't change and not stew on them. I feel bad for that lost cat though.
DeleteI'm sorry for all the heartbreak. ~hugs~ Your cat colony and all those thousands (?) you've rescued are very fortunate. Best wishes, my dear.
ReplyDeleteThanks
