I cried off and on today. I don't know why really.
Part of it is this constant rain. Can't do anything.
But it was also because I don't want to return Ebony in this sort of weather, not even knowing if he has anywhere to get out of the rain or anyone to love him. He seems to love just being in a holding cage, just laying around, sleeping and eating, getting pets and talking to me. He's a sweetie, with a raspy soulful voice. He talks all the time. His eyes are healing up but he needs them watched awhile longer.
There are so many strays in this area. It's just heart breaking and sometimes it gets to me.
Turn on the sound to hear his voice.
I finally messaged a woman who lives half a block from where the tenants trapped him. I'd gotten a boy cat fixed for her recently. That's how I know her. I told her how hard it is for me to take this boy back and she quickly said she'd try him out at her place. This is the perfect solution, just in case he has an owner nearby somewhere, although seems unlikely since he's been here since Saturday and there's no one looking for him.
And also its his familiar hood so if he gets out or it doesn't work out, he knows where he's at and where he can get food.
Big huge relief, I"ll tell you, feel better already. I'm sure grateful to that woman for just instantly saying she'll take him. I was just going to ask if she could ask around the neighborhood about him.
Wonderful news - for Ebony and for you. And I hope he does settle with that woman. who seems like good people..
ReplyDeleteShe's a really nice person, so I hope it works there for him.
DeleteI thought this might lead to you having a new cat, but I know you don't want to. It seems like Ebony has landed on his feet in more way than one.
ReplyDeleteNo I can't do another. My dear old friend Sam is failing now, in his 17th or 18th year and so are his friends Buffy and Shady, also near same age. I want to spend as much time with them as I can.
DeleteEbony is a lucky cat because of you. Let me thank you for him.
ReplyDeleteThanks L and L.
DeleteMaybe it's time to add another cat to your household? Sometimes one just gets to you, and you need to keep him. But that sounds like a good solution, too.
ReplyDeleteI love a story that has a happy ending!
ReplyDeleteI'd hug you for real if I could. Take care, my dear.
