I let Rogue out of the bathroom.
Sissy went home this morning and after I took down the cage she'd been in, I opened the bathroom screen door, so Rogue could try his sea legs.
He's done ok. He's still pretty off, still has head tilt. He may have to have another round of antibiotics. But he was getting bored and stressed in the bathroom so long, had taken to over grooming, but did cough up three large hairballs.
Of course he instantly wanted to be up high. First he studied all the cat runs carefully before deciding how to get up high. Over and over he went out to the cat yard, came back in, made a precarious jump to the top of a dresser, instead of taking the easy route in and now is sleeping inside. He's not a dumb cat and is being careful. We shall see. Sometimes you just got to hope for the best. If he gets worse, he'll go back in the bathroom and back to the vet.
He was getting too fat in the bathroom too, bored, so he ate a lot more than he usually does.
It poured all day today again. I didn't think it was supposed to rain. Here's Rogue last night while still in the bathroom.
And here he is today, all happy and the top cat. Free at last....He's the one on the top.
He's still having a bit of trouble but not like before.
I didn't go to the parade today for Veterans' Day. I had sciatica kick in off and on two days ago and standing really is impossible, even on good days. Walking isn't so bad but standing long periods is a painful time.
I worked a long time yesterday on the cat structure out in the yard and had thought I'd be doing more today, but then came the rain. I wasn't expecting rain.
Sissy went home and I let Rogue out and mopped the whole house and that was about it, other than i watched some old episodes of Amazing Race. It's the season with Survivor winner Rob and his then girlfriend Amber as contestants. I didn't realize how much I dislike that pair and I don't want to watch the rest of the episodes. They play dirty.
I listened to Bruce Springsteen's new album, is that what you call a release of songs still, an album? It's not bad and his voice is so beautiful on many of the songs. He didn't write the songs this time. It's a tribute to soul music. If you're going to listen to even one song on it, listen to Nightshift.
My brother is very ill with the flu, he told me, via text. He's vaccinated against the flu but not the first person I know of to become very ill with it. I don't think the vaccine is very good this year with a match to what's out there maybe.
I guess the governors race in Oregon is over with finally, a winner declared. The democrat won. I had supported the unaffiliated candidate but she got under 10% of the votes and conceded quickly. I really wanted her to win, but that's life.
I vote no on almost all voter referred measures now, because they never come with a way to fund them or seem far too vague in wording. I've done that for many years after seeing the chaos that can result. I'm happy its all over with and maybe there can be some shut up about politics for awhile.
To all the people who won, congratulations and now just go on and do your job in private if you would.
Thank you.
Anyhow, I don't have anymore spay neuter reservations til the very end of the month now. So plenty of time to catch up more on projects and maybe it won't rain tomorrow and I can work on that never ending cat structure in the yard.
I'm making curry tonight with almost none of the ingredients I usually use. Coconut milk is too expensive now, so using plain old almond milk or cows milk. I have no chicken so am using peanuts. At least there's something in the frig, like half bag of spinach that can go in it. If the price of food and gas is not enough, the garbage company is raising rates yet again, by 9% in January. That's when the next electric increase is supposed to hit and I don't even want to know how much that increase will be. One Albany city councilor, the only one that didn't vote for the garbage raise, called all the price increases death by a thousand cuts. She's right on with that.
P.S. The curry turned out just very delicious.
Rogue will be very grateful to be free again - and I hope he can stay that way.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad that your curry was delicious. I hope you have left overs too. I think curry leftovers are often even better on the second night.
I think almost everything I make is better the 2nd day and beyond. Soup especially I don't even bother eating until the second day. Rogue is fine this morning, thank goodness, as I worried about the night, thinking I should keep him in the bathroom nights, but he'd catch on to that fast.
DeleteWe're already in the very high activity rate for flu here - which is way early. I've had my flu shot, so I'm hoping for the best, but we shall see. Hope your brother is feeling better soon. And I'm glad Rogue is out and behaving himself and not doing anything too dangerous.
ReplyDeleteWe also have a lot of flu here already. One lady had it three weeks and said she was sicker than she's ever been. She had been vaccinated I think but I'm not positive and is much younger than I am.
DeleteI'm so glad Rogue has improved and hope it continues. ~hugs~ That curry with peanuts and spinach sounds delicious. I'm sorry your brother is so ill and that prices keep skyrocketing. It's snowing like mad here today after rain yesterday. Polly spent quite some time watching out the window. ~grin~ Take care, my dear, and may your sciatica pain disappear. That always sounded awful to me.
ReplyDeleteOh I do love snow. It's so beautiful and pure looking. He's not quite right though, gets around fairly good, is very careful, but has head tilt still. The infection may have damaged nerves.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear Rogue has been released. He probably felt like it was a punishment. Too bad we can't explain these things to him. Yes, all the price hikes are ridiculous. It's too much too soon.
