Rogue has an abscess, but I was unable to tell where. He wouldn't let me look under his chin and he is powerful.
I had looked in on him in the bathroom this afternoon and his throat back beneath his chin was covered in yellow fluid with more dripping down from somewhere.
He let me wipe him clean from above but not get an under his chin look to see where that was coming from exactly. He's off to the vet tomorrow. Yeah, the good old coast clinic, the only place he might get seen immediately and be treated like he's just like any other cat, not a feral to be euthanized for anything. I've run into that around here at some vets.
It was at the coast clinic where he got the life saving removal of all his teeth so many years ago. He was the first cat I ever took there in fact. Now he needs them again.
The video of his abscess draining is too gross to put online. He does seem to feel much better but it will likely block up and blow up again, without vet intervention.
Besides, I need to know where that's coming from and for that, he will need sedated.
Wish us luck, the car and Rogue.
Rogue is one of the Business Nine. The city referred me, back when Poppa Inc. got a grant to fix cats in Albany from the city. It was not to include removal, but the business told me they were told I'd not bring them back. That was after days trying to trap in a very very difficult place. Workers there would not check traps and it was fenced and locked up at night. Anyhow, I caught the nine then couldn't return them because they said they wouldn't feed them. What a nightmare.
They all remained here and most had to have their teeth removed due to stomatitis. That's when I found the affordable clinic on the coast.
Only Rogue, Haley and Alexi remain of the nine. Here are the six Business Nine cats who have passed.
Raindrop and Sassy |
My little wild Mosquito cat--Misty |
Cougie on the left front with Stiletto in the middle. Cougie and Stiletto have passed, while Alexi on the far right is one of the three Business Nine cats still with me. |
Tilly, Rogue's sister, who passed away from a saddle clot |
Rogue, Haley and Alexi remain.
Alexi, way back in 2014 |
Haley doesn't miss out on enjoying every moment and all her friends here. She's the most vibrant cat. Yes, quite elderly now, as are her friends. |
And dear Rogue, who will play by himself if he can't find any other cat who wants to play. Even in old age, play is a big part of his life still. |
Rogue has always enjoyed his food greatly. If you think a cat without teeth can't eat just about anything, think again. |
Hope the best for Rogue.
ReplyDeleteCoffee is on and stay safe
Thank you
DeleteI wish the three of you all the luck you need.
ReplyDeleteAppreciate it.
DeleteIndeed, good luck with both.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Andrew.
DeleteSafe pingless travels today as you take Rogue to the vet.
ReplyDeletePingless travel, that's funny. No pinging, but dash warning lights back on. The only further investment I will make in fixing those is in a piece of black electrical tape to cover them.
DeleteWell, that at least tells you what is wrong with Rogue. I hope everything heals up well after he sees the vet.
ReplyDeleteMe too.
DeleteThey're all beautiful. Fingers crossed for Rogue.
ReplyDeleteI am also crossing my fingers
DeleteIt's obvious your nightmarish endeavors provide great comfort and joy for formerly unfortunate cats. ~hugs~ Thank you for your ongoing efforts.
