More Spots

I wore myself out Sunday and Monday.  By Monday night, I was zonked and fell asleep uncomfortably on the futon in the garage, fed up with my cats bickering is why I resorted to the garage nap.   Slinko is in a bad mood and goes after Otto and even Echo, who was formerly his friend, upsetting the others too, so they act out.

Yuck!  Boys and their issues.

I didn't wake up til nearly 11:00 p.m. groggy and twisted on that narrow uncomfortable futon.   I slept well last night despite the long nap.

Today I gave myself time off, and just did the normal chores plus the extras of cleaning the traps and doing the cage cover laundry.

But I scored some extra spots on Thursday and was happy about that.  I'll take more RV park cats in to be fixed if I can catch them, since there are more than I thought.  Quite a few more.

The moon the last nights has been gorgeous.

When I returned the RV park cats I took a look at the reservoir.  It's extremely low.  Normally the water level, in the summer, would be up at tree bottom level.  This is the largest deepest part of the lake.
The photo below shows the high and dry boat ramp across the lake.  That is a very steep boat ramp that I try to avoid at all costs, but there's quite a lot of dirt exposed beyond where pavement ends.

Gigi, the neighbors cat, spent five days maybe a couple days more than that, holed up in the garage rafters, but now is running around like nothiing is out of the ordinary.   I climbed a ladder to put food and water up on a board in the rafters when she was acting sick, but she ate and drank as normal.   Who knows what was going on.  I still think she was hairball clogged.  I went and got her some hairball dry  food to help.

Gas and food are so expensive but there's not much a person can do about it.   $20 does not get a person much gas anymore.   I go nowhere unless trapping or to a clinic.

There's a new cat at the park.  I've gone there again, first time in a very long time, since I just provide food to a lady who lives much much closer and she has done it for months now.   But she had obligations last two days so I went.   She'd told me about him, but then so had a residential lady's son, who walks his dog in the park daily.

He's fat, short bodied, fluffy and tame, but starting to get a bit shy.  I've been told he was there for two months, so its not like he's super new there.  I petted him today, after seeing him on the trail, then reached back to see if I felt "marbles" and did, but from the rear, you cannot see any balls.   Pretty sure I felt them though in the fluffy hair and one ear's chewed up a bit from fights.   He's too sweet, obviously had a home, but is there all the time and sleeps in the brush so he's either lost or dumped.  Poor guy.

This is one of the guys I know from residential who walks his dog and one or more of his cats there every day.   Only one cat came with him and his dog today.  Dog's on leash, cat isn't.

Usually when my boy cats start acting up, there's some unfixed male roaming through my yard.   The smell of an unfixed boy is enough to set them off big time.  When I was in the garage two mornings ago, I could smell that an unfixed boy had just been in my garage, so I need to set up my camera, to see  what is going on.   My boys are so hormonal acting, even though fixed, and react so drastically to the smell of a boy who isn't fixed.  Puts them right back into "Gotta defend my territory" mode but the aggression gets displaced onto other fixed boys here instead.

Tomorrow afternoon, back up to the RV park with my drop trap to catch 4 or 5 more.  These extra spots will help take a big chunk out of the ones still needing fixed.

  1. Poor guy at the park indeed.
Unfixed male cats make their presence felt (and smelt) don't they?

    1. They sure do. You should smell my car from hauling them off to be fixed.

  2. Will you be able to get the new cat in the park fixed? Funny about the cat being off leash but I have seen it before.

    1. Dirk and his mom are kind of cat whisperers, and sometimes a crowd of their cats follow them on a park walk. I got their cats fixed years and years ago. Yes, when I have a spare spot, I'll get him fixed.

  3. Good luck with your trapping tomorrow. I'm glad you got some more spots. Unfixed male cats used to drive my indoor, fixed male cat crazy. The outdoor males would pee on our windows and doors where the other cat was and it really stunk. Presently, there are no outdoor cats in the neighborhood and I'm glad.

    1. Yeah, I get them fixed the minute I know they're out there, or they cause lots of havoc with my own cats. I think the final count, but it won't be final no doubt, is 63 cats I've gotten fixed since moving here that have roamed unfixed into my yard or neighbors yards. It used to be a big problem on the block but not so much after I moved here. Ha! There's at least one big advantage to having me as a neighbor.

  4. It makes me so sad to hear about a tame cat that might have been dumped. How can people? Lost is sad enough, but dumped just gets to me.

    1. Husky. She's a very sweet dog. And gets walked twice a day at least.

  6. I've never experienced living with a male cat since both boys that appeared lost soon got returned to their rightful homes. It must be so frustrating when fixed males turn on others for no good reason. ~sigh~ Take care!
