First Day of Summer Celebration

Oregon celebrated the first day of summer by instantly turning warm.  It's 80 degrees out today!

I'm so happy I could laugh and I have today.

I broke out the kiddie pool I got on a ridiculous sale two months ago.  I got alerted to it from an Amazon bargain site on facebook and got it immediately.   It was so cheap, if it was crap it wouldn't matter a whole lot.

I had some old carpet pieces and then some soft floor pieces that jigsaw together that I'd had on my garage floor.  I just moved them all out and under where the pool would go.

Took about 15 minutes then to fill it and I got in.  It's not very deep.  It's two feet to the very top, but I only fill it about a foot deep, which is plenty.

Ah!  Not bad!   Hope last summer's sunscreen is still good cause I fell asleep out there in the inner tube floating in my kiddie pool.  That's what we old folk do for fun---sleep.  Sleep anywhere!

I see Gigi, the neighbors cat, got caught in my photo.  I have a tarp big enough to cover it, over the top and down the sides, so I hope its enough to keep the roaming neighbor cats off it and from puncturing it.  We shall see.

And here is the news: There is localised Oregon flooding coming from it seems a cat claw punctured swimming pool. The pool owner has denied liability, stating it was an Act of God.

    2. I'm not entirely optimistic about its survival chances with so many neighbor cats out and about at night. But.....we shall see. I may rig some redneck sort of alarm system to scare them if they dare touch it.

  3. Taking a nap floating in a kiddie pool sounds perfect!

  4. Ah, but don't cats like to get in things? Hopefully they'll realize it's water and leave it alone.

    1. Yeah, well my cats are contained. It would just be neighbor cats, but they're cats and yes they may ruin it. It's covered now in a large tarp, but its not a thick tarp and claws could get through it to the pool side. We shall see in the morning. Seriously thinking of making a braided rope to run around the top edge that will hold plastic water cups so if they dare jump up on the edge, they get wet. They would not like that.

Younger Crowd

Besides the mostly very elderly cats here, a younger crowd provides entertainment.  For the most part, they're happy healthy and insane...
