Twisted

If I didn't think the world couldn't get even more messed up...

Someone leaked a majority opinion from the Supreme Court, who has taken up Roe vs. Wade, a ruling that gave women the right to control her own body, and the court is poised to strike the age old ruling down, leaving abortion legality up to states.

Some states have taken steps, drafted anti abortion laws, in anticipation of the political body formerly known as the Supreme Court, would undo Roe vs. Wade.  One state, maybe its Oklahoma, will grant no exceptions for even rape or incest, forcing women to bear a  child.

And these same peope whined mask mandates were intrusive on their freedom.  WTF?

Forcing a woman by law to do what someone else says regarding her own body is just bullshit pure and simple and intrusive government at its maximum.

It also forces the religious beliefs of others onto everyone, particularly women, removing their choice in the matter.  Currently a woman can choose to have an abortion or not to have one.

I try to remind people it doesn't matter what I believe or anyone else does.  Allegedly we have freedom in the US, to practise religion or be free of it, and also to regulate our own bodies, so whatever I believe is irrelevant.   You want to slide a slippery slope, Republicans?  I'm making myself laugh because all I can think of is their tantrums over masks, declaring mask mandates big government and intrusion on their own bodily rights, but now they want to make laws that intrude into women's bodies.

Lack of birth control access, including abortion, is central to creating poverty and population densities that create starvation.   Do we care about the living anymore?  And.....is a prime factor in emigration.   When women have child after child and they can't feed them and the poverty and conditions are the same all around, they're going to migrate elsewhere.    The churches that condemn birth control are also a factor in emigration, I'll add.  Nothing exists in a vacuum.

I deal with reproduction issues daily.  Ok, in cats not people.  I'm long spayed, and was infertile my entire life before that due to endometriosis.  I'm very happy not to be fertile in this day and age.

There are not the resources to care for all the cats born, let alone all the people, lets face it.  Consider getting spayed or neutered, everybody, might be a really good time.  Especially with Putin on the mid to late life crisis war path and the pope now claiming the war is Nato's fault and people acting like its nothing that thousands of people including children are being blown to bits.  Hey pro fetus folks, jpw about becoming pro life and stopping that dam war?

Well anyhow, off the band wagon, happy to be beyond reproduction age.  I'll probably be having nightmares of Ted Cruz demanding virginity checks on all women now.  And wanting to conduct them himself.

I took the kitten back to Cascadia today, releasing Star, from Lebanon, on the way, at her place.   When I got to the homeless camp, the couple took the little kitten, without one word to me.   The other man though, came over and asked me to take the mom cats three boys.  He owns the mom cat and had given the girl kitten to the other couple.  All the campers have been court evicted from the property and the man said the property owner will be fined if they don't leave.  So he was stressed.  His RV doesn't even run.  I have no idea where any of them will go.  This is way way out in the sticks and these folks don't have running cars. So I agreed to take the three boy kittens, of course.  He wants to keep their mom, who is again in heat.  He has another cat inside his RV with five 2 week old kittens.   He also asked if I would take a pregnant stray named Maybaline.  She's tame.  I said "of course" and got her in Star's now empty trap.

So I came home with three boy kittens and a pregnant stray named Maybaline.  Keitha's Kitty Rescue took all four fortunately.  My nonprofit donated a goodly amount to them to help with their care.

This is Maybaline.   This photo doesn't show well how pregnant she actually is.  Maybe her kittens will be born tonight or tomorrow pregnant.    At least she'll have them somewhere safe and warm.

Here are the three boy kittens, brothers of the girl fixed yesterday, now with KKR.  Someone gave me an appointment to get their mom fixed the 9th. That's if I can find the guy since they have to be off the property before then.

Here's to freedom, long may it live.   Which in regards to women having the freedom to control their own bodies, may not be long.

Oregon has vowed to remain an enclave of freedom for women's rights, regardless of the ruling of the political committee formerly known as the Supreme Court.  I call it a political committee because long ago it turned into a political party tool.  It's useless now I'd say.  But Oregon's determination in the women's freedom regard is completely dependent on keeping the Republicans here out of office.  I don't know what is wrong with Republicans.  Tons of their kids get abortions, they in denial or something?   Well anyhow.

Oregon has its faults but I'm glad I live here and not somewhere like Oklahoma or Texas.

  1. This world is just scary. Idaho is one who tighten screw on abortion. If I recall there following Texas. I go to work later on Wednesday I might do a post on right to choose.

  3. I saw that story - and even half way across the world I was horrified and angry.
And thank you for doing your positive best to reduce reproductive issues for cats. And as always the females are the ones that suffer. And suffer.

    1. Yes, the females suffer and in humans, the weight of judgement hangs so heavy often on single moms.

  4. I'm so angry, too. I just can't. But I do know what they're up to. It's a bunch of rich white men who have decided that they want to go back to the "good old days" as in the days when women had no rights (yup, they want to get rid of our voting rights) and only white males had any political voice. They're coming after the LGBT community and voting rights and interracial marriages, too. I do believe they even want to return the Senate to when it was populated by appointments from the states (no direct elections).

California is also "safe". (Did you know CA legalized abortion in 1971, before Roe?) But the fascist party has declared that if they get a majority, they're planning to outlaw it across the nation as their first act.

    1. It's quite horrible. This is also religious extremists pushing their religious views into other people's bodies, which is so against the constitution its not funny.

  5. I'm not against abortion but see nothing wrong with each state deciding the issue within individual borders. Even Ruth Bader Ginsburg proclaimed Roe Vs. Wade was unconstitutional. The court justices shouldn't be drafting laws.

So please, don't fret. In my humble opinion reasonable folk will prevail overall. That is, if we survive Putin's insanity. ;) And please move to Southwest Ohio! We're even tempered and friendly.

    1. I believe it is constitutional but under the freedom of religion part of the constitution, which also means people cannot force their religious views on others. It will affect women in states that have already passed anti abortion bills or are about to--the red states. Imagine finding out you're pregnant, when you don't want a child, can't afford another child or are bearing a child with severe disabilities that would otherwise be aborted. Birth control can fail and does. Will women not be allowed to abort a dead or dying fetus? Oklahoma wants no exemptions even for rape or incest. That is unbelievably cruel. Republicans vow to make it illegal nationally. Prostitutes who become pregnant? Pimps will do the abortions themselves and women will die. We have so many unwanted children already waiting in foster homes, hoping for homes.

    2. My basic thoughts on it is not something that should even be considered to make laws for or against because its a private thing, a woman or a woman and her partners' private medical life, for them to make the decisions, not the government.

Last few spots for spay neuter before the official break. I took in five today.  I was going to drive over six.  The sixth is a friendly ma...
