Smudge! She is so happy here. She has so many cat friends and she has me. Anytime I"m in the bathroom she runs in and wants on my lap to be cuddled. Ok Smudge. |
Please, with the strange weather, just stop.
A warning popped up on facebook about possibly dangerous storms coming Wednesday, when a warm front from the east collides with a colder front coming off the Pacific.
Great.
Here's the text of the warning, from one weather outfit:
"The Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Oklahoma is showing a widespread thunderstorm potential on Wednesday ahead of a very strong storm that will be coming in. Very cold unstable air will provide all the needed ingredients for thunderstorm activity. And, in the areas in bown, severe weather with strong damaging winds, and hail is looking possible. A tornado or two would also be possible in this set up.
Here is what SPC is saying about it -
"Pacific Northwest...
Models suggest that the weakly unstable warm sector, of a broad and deep occluded surface cyclone centered over the northeastern
Pacific, may spread inland to the west of the Oregon Cascades during the day Wednesday. It appears that this will coincide with
mid-level cooling and lift within the exit region of 90+ kt 500 mb
jet nosing onshore, and enlarging, clockwise curved low-level
hodographs near a 40-50+ kt southerly 850 mb jet. And it might not be out of the question that the environment could become conducive to low-topped supercells with the potential to produce a tornado, locally strong wind gusts and/or small hail."
By the way....in SPC parlance, "small hail" will be anything under golf ball size. In our local area, golf ball sized hail IS big hail. And hail that size would be able to do damage."
The winter like cold wet and wind kept me firmly inside today. That and being out very very late, into the wee hours of the morning, trying to catch even one of the cats still unfixed at the Carson colony. I didn't catch the black tux monster male Sylvester, who looks like hell, from fighting and endless probably sleepless patrolling for rivals. Everyone vanishes when he is around and last night was no exception. It was interesting though to watch him. Back and forth, back and forth slow and limping, bare spot on his side, likely from a roll around fight, and just looking for more fights. I would say he's already engaged in one too many.
I had to sleep off the long night hours in a car over in a parking lot.
I don't regret going. I was bored anyway here. With all this wet cold weather, can't do much of anything outside.
How about some dramatic clouds? These popped up end of a turbulent day a few days ago, as the sky cleared some, not long before sundown.
WOW on the cloud front. I hope the threatened storm doesn't arrive - and that you get some catch up sleep.
ReplyDeleteI always get my catch up sleep these days. After all the years I've lived, I know better than to not get enough sleep. It clouds everything in my life up if I don't.
DeletePity the weather is not put simply. How cold, how wet, how windy will it be.
ReplyDeleteThe cloud photos are stunning.
The forecasts here are notoriously iffy, and generally viewed with skepticism. We shall see. Storm is predicted for tomorrow.
DeleteI hope the weather turned out calmer than predicted. We are having several days now with temps in the 30s and 40s with rain and occasional snow and sleet. It's got me inside, too.
ReplyDeleteIt's forecast for tomorrow and only a small section, in the middle to the coast, including my location, could get the really severe storm. The rest of the state west of the Cascades---just regular thunderstorms.
DeleteLast week we had a similar dire weather prediction, which turned out to be far less impressive than predicted. I hope the same for you.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I don't know if it will materialize or not tomorrow. Here, we are barely inside the area that could get the severe storms. who knows. Wait and see, like usual. We almost never get the predicted weather.
DeleteSmudge! I let out a little squee upon seeing her so happy. ~hugs~ We got quite a bit of snow yesterday. ~scratches head~ Stay safe, my dear, and best wishes to you all and poor Sylvester, too. Nice images of those dramatic clouds, my dear.
ReplyDeleteShe's unbelievably happy. Comes romping into the bedroom mornings with several of her pals. Just has really fit in. Comes into the bathroom whenever I go in, wanting on my lap, never a private moment.
DeleteSquee! Heh... Sorry. This story just thrills me. Happy cats make every day better and provides the perfect name for your nonprofit. ~hugs~ Take care!
DeleteI hope you get some nicer weather soon.
ReplyDeleteMe too, all this rain and cold is depressing. But the poor flowers!
DeleteMighty powerful looking clouds.
ReplyDeleteCoffee is on and stay safe
Sure were pretty.
