Oh how I love hands free trapping.
People trap their own cats and I just line them up on the cat shelves and load them up to drive to the clinics. Oh how easy life could be......
The vet student trapped five more down in that trailer park where she lives. 11 so far now. I didn't lift a finger. I'll just load them in my car tomorrow morning and drive them up to be fixed. I could just laugh it was so nice and easy.
I did go out to the ditch colony. See there was one left and with my luck, it'd be a girl, about to pop pregnant, since it was less than two months ago I got the last males I knew of there, which doesn't mean a roam in, used to lots of unfixed girls there, wouldn't also come through. I knew I had to bite the bullet and get it done.
She or he was out and about. I called the old guy feeder to help. I had the remote control set up on a live trap, but she wasn't going for it. So, I had him go through the ditch, again full of water, and toss the cats bits of sausage, like he often does, but into the trap this time. And it wasn't ten minutes before into the trap she (or he) went. Dennis turned to me, (I was in my car with the remote control) and signaled by lowering his arm. His face was white and tense. I knew he was holding his breath. I pulled the trigger on the sender unit. Down came the trap door. We had her!!!!!
We both celebrated. The end of an era. All will now be fixed there! Woohoo!
Six cats to be fixed tomorrow in the garage and basically I did almost nothing to catch them, but loan out traps to the vet student and spend 30 minutes at the ditch colony.
Now that's an easy cat round up for a change, just the way I like it.
Otherwise, I spent the day out front weeding out dandelions. For the sake of neighbors who you'd think are lawn judges. Otherwise to be honest I wouldn't bother. I really don't care about having a chemical green every blade same height lawn.
If only trapping was always so easy...
ReplyDeleteSound like vet student is a blessing. No dandelions here yet. I knew some who made dandelion jelly and it taste like honey.
ReplyDeleteCoffee is on and stay safe
Yay for help. It's nice when you don't have to do it all yourself.
