Smudge, the returned kitten, is doing great. She's come out of her shell so much in the two days here.
She'll go to a different rescue later this week or weekend. In the meantime, we here, all of us, well, most of us (let's exempt Slinko), are enjoying her.
I know the video is not the best. She was trying to sleep and I was trying to get anything of her before my phone battery died again. It's going through another phase of doing that, going dead several times a day.
I can walk up to Smudge in the bathroom now, lean down and pet her. She also will come to me, shyly, wanting petted. That's progress.
She does not want cornered though, and panics if she thinks I'm trying to corner her for some reason.
The three cats I trapped Saturday when returning the others fixed Friday were fixed today. Two in heat girls and one teenage boy.
Styler, an in heat gorgeous girl. Her brother was fixed last Friday. He's pretty too. |
Panda was also in heat. We targeted her, with the drop trap, to be sure we got her, because the feeder lady knew she was in heat. |
This is Cozy, a teen boy |
They're in the garage recuperating. I set them up in a cage with the cage covered and a space heater aimed into it. Its going to be very cold nights the next few days we're told, low 20's to teens, not too bad, but cold enough.
This afternoon, we had a prolonged hail event. Must have gone on an hour. Accumulated in a granular crunchy layer two inches in places deep. It did not all melt and so we will have a very dangerous early morning. That's if you are out on the road. I do not intend to be out on the road.
Do be careful with the heating for the garage. An hour of hail is amazing. I've never experienced that. Ours is always fast, and sometimes furious.
ReplyDeleteDidn't turn out near as cold as predicted. So the space heater is off.
DeleteHailing for an hour must have been very noisy. As Andrew said, I've never seen a hail storm that long.
ReplyDeleteIt was extremely noisy, couldn't hear the TV once inside and settled in. I've never experienced a hail storm before that lasted more than a few minutes. Have now!
DeleteSmudge is a cutie! Thanks for providing your hand as a reference to her size.
ReplyDeleteYes, she is very very small.
DeleteThat little Smudge is just precious! Please stay home and stay safe with that crazy weather!
ReplyDeletewell she went on a tear last night, after learning how fun play is, unrolled the toilet paper, toy mouse in water dish, the whole gambit of kitten shenanigans.
DeleteToo bad about your phone battery. I'll shut my phone off, and sometimes that helps battery life. (Shutting it off just to reboot.) But at a certain point, that's my cue to upgrade :)
ReplyDeleteGlad the cats are doing well.
I shut mine off at night now. I think it has helped extend it for awhile. Its very old.
DeleteWhat precious rescues. A sleepy Smudge is an excellent sign. You've done great with her and so many others. ~hugs~ I am sorry about your phone battery, too, but super glad you needn't go out on those icy roads. Stay safe and warm, my dear.
