Beautiful Fourth of July Weekend Begins

The holiday weekend has begun.   And its gorgeous out.   Just right weather.

Used to be, in those good old days, (when really were those?), we'd say here in Oregon, summer starts the 5th of July and it will rain til then.  Gone days.

Good news!  Luna, the black mom cat from behind the gas station I grabbed last week, along with her kittens, is being spayed today.  She's being fostered with her kittens in Keizer.  That woman procured one golden spay neuter ticket from someone else and used it for Luna.  Happy Cat Club, my little ol nonprofit, paid for it, and I was so happy to do so.  So thank you people who donate to HCC.  This is what your money does.  Over and over and over again.  Like a broken record!

So I saw a kitten at the park yesterday.  Shocked me.  Embarrassed me.  I am park cat patrol, self-appointed.  How could this be?

It bugged me no end last night.  I got up with the blasting alarm at 5:15 a.m. and headed over, set traps, caught the one kitten I saw and its mom.  And caroused with some dogs, near the river.  Why not?  They were fun.

I saw no other kittens, in two more hours.   But will be checking daily and early, before the sun comes up and the holiday heat seeking water loving crowds appear.

The park was beautiful early.

Kitty Angel Team Adoption's Lisa, with daughter Savannah, came immediately to get both mom and kitten.  That was wonderful.

Yesterday Lisa took in this kitten a friend of mine found in Lebanon screaming.  I stopped by my friends place yesterday to get in some kitten play time before Lisa came to take her.

So that's the latest.  You got the whole story.  I'm just going to go nap now.  Nothing exciting.  A book, my cats, my bed and a nice long nap.

    Hooray for Luna being spayed.
And a book, cats and a nap sounds excellent.

    1. Yes, I am happy the Keizer woman scored a spay neuter spot to get her done quickly.

  4. When I visit a park, I think it is especially beautiful if there are no other people around. Looks like you were there early enough that you had it mostly to yourself. We have had a break in the weather (of course, we did not reach your extremes) and are looking to have a pleasant weekend.

    1. That is so funny, L and L, especially beautiful if nobody else there! Absolutely! I had to get there at 6:00 a.m. for that to be the case but I did sleep a lot that afternoon.
